$70 for an oil change is to much especially for regular oil.
$15 at CT is a fair deal but inspect their work before you leave. The last time I let them touch one of my vehicles (Chevy S10 Blazer back in college days) they left the oil cap sitting on my battery. I never noticed until a week later when I was adding washer fluid. I haven't been back to a CT for auto service since. I figured if they can't do a simple oil change.....
Synthetic is going to carry you through more than 7000km and its better for the engine so its up to you. Do what you want. It's your car not the dealers.
$40 from an oil change shop is a good deal. If you go this route just get out of the car and watch what they are doing under the hood. Don't let them take any tools to your engine bay. Like I tell my wife (before she takes our van to the Pennzoil place) "Tell them OIL, LUBE & FILTER and that will be all Thank YOU".

I've been using Mobil1 and changing every 5000km. I would just go to a local garage. It's not the like the G is too low for lifts at stock height. My oil changes are like 60 dollars max. If you live in the west island, I'll give you the address to the shop I go to.
