60 k brake warranty

I have a 2004 6 speed with 51,000km. My last car 5 speed 2000 Maxima 5 speed I did the brakes for the first time at 121,000 km. I was surprised when I recently took my car in for service and the the front rotors and pads were replaced under warranty. I really don't think there was anything wrong with them (no pulsation etc) could be a scam by the dealer. Have you guys/girls had a similar experience?

Re: 60 k brake warranty

Hmm that does not sound right because the Brembo brakes are NOT covered by warranty. Do you mean the dealer was scamming head office or you? I don't see how if they replaced them for you under warranty...
Either way I think the brake pads for both Brembo and non-brembo need to be replaced every 30 000 kms.
BTW how did you manage to put 51,000 kms on a '04?!?! That's a LOT of driving...

Re: 60 k brake warranty

My car is a loaded sedan, and yes 51,000 per year, bought it as leasing would be too expensive. Anyway, all sedans had their warranty for brakes extended to 60,000km. Therefore my brakes were fixed free of charge. If any of you had brake work done, Infiniti will reimbuse you for your expenses as long as you have proper documentation and under 60K. I suggest those with Brembo brakes contact Infiniti to determine if the warranty was extended(coupe only). Most likely those with the coupe(non Brembo) would have their warranty extended as well. I received a letter that went to all Canadian owners indicating the brakes were extended to 60,000 km even for normal wear and tear. There was premature wear due to the high performance of these brakes. I was just wondering if others had similar wear considering my last car the brakes were done the first time at over 120,000km.

Oh thanks for clearing that up - I thought your car was a coupe. Yes I got the letter too stating warranty up to 60,000 km or 3 years. I have the coupe non-brembo brakes and I'm at 15,000 km and they are starting to squeal. Will be taking it to the dealer soon for next oil change and inspection - I'm guessing that the brake pads need to be replaced.

15k and your brakes need to be replaced? Wow, I'd be pissed! After my front rotors and pads were replaced under warranty I still note a squelling when leaving my house in the am the next day. I plan to take my car in at just under 60K and hopefully the dealer will replace the back pads and rotors under warranty. Let me know how you make out. Is your car an auto?

Re: 60 k brake warranty

My car is an auto and yeah 15k is a far cry from the 95k my other car went before brake pads had to be replaced...but my other car doesn't brake or drive like the G35! I think it has to do with the brakes being high performance, but thankfully we got that warranty letter!
You think you need your rotors replaced too?
I'll let you know how it goes but my guess is only the pads need to be replaced.

Yes rotors as well. I sold my Maxima with 165K after four years with the original rotors. I think the dealer scammed Infiniti. I don't believe my pads or rotors required replacement. There was no pulsation from the brakes when I took it in, they were working fine. I will be taking the car in again just before 60K. Most likely the dealer will replace the rear pads and possibly the rotors. I'm going to have the rear inspected by Midas for an opinion before I take my car to the Infiniti dealer. Which dealer to you take your car to? I go the Oakville dealer.
