Anyone ever 'switch' their tires from side to side?

I'm on Tein Basics and SPC camber but I guess last summer I didn't do an alignment and I'm seeing inside-camber on the front wheels and slightly on the back.

I've read some other threads where people unmount their tires and switch it from side to side, since they are directional tires..... falken 452....

Is this a crazy idea or ??

There is still about 40-50% tread and I don't want to buy new tires as of yet just cause of camber wear.....

Yea you can do that fine, as long as they aren't a true inside outside tire like say the RE11

The Fk452 is fine for this.

BTW, it's not your camber that is out of line, it's your toe. The shop you took it too probably only adjusted the camber and screwed you on the toe adjustment.

I'm planning on doing this in the spring.. the camber on my back wheels is especially bad so the tire wear has got to be getting pretty good on the one side.

That tread looks s3xy!.....

The toe you say? So would they need to do an alignment to fix the toe or would it be a matter of just adjusting something? Just wonder what the work is involved to correcting the toe.

4DGS where do you get your stuff done?

Toe is another portion of an alignment.

/ \ That's camber if you were looking at the car from behind.

/ \ That's toe if you look at the car from above.

I do pretty much everything myself, but for alignments I have a little shop here to do it as I don't own an alignment machine lol. SG motorsports would be your best bet to get a proper alignment done that is closer to you.

Ok thanks, I already have SPC kit installed, i did an alignment in 2009 and didn't in 2010 and at the end of season i noticed dramatic inside camber wear on the front.

So i guess i'll flip the tires and get an alignment...

I usually get the alignment at least checked once a year. Also try to flip/rotate my tires every 3-4000kms. Even though my car doesn't have as aggressive a camber as say 4DGS' car, regular rotations help more than one would think. Then again you can only properly rotate tires when all four are the same size. Staggered sizing sort of ****s you up for keeping tires under your car.

I also had my FK452 pulled off the rims and swapped to even out the camber wear. Now I have Invos that are asymmetrical they seem to be cupping in the front after only one season I am going to get them mounted today and i looked at swapping sides even though they are asymmetrical . i dont mind buying rear tires but i like the fronts to last through two sets of rears!!!

Invos get noisy when you flip them as far as I know.

You should try some neo gens, they are hard on the inside so camber wear doesn't hurt them as much. They are also way cheaper than invos and trip nicks

Flipping your tires is a good idea if they're a design that works for that.
