My friends brother had generals on his 328is. I've never seen a tire get eaten by a car so quickly. And at the time the car wasn't even dumped.

Have you looked at the Hankook ventus v12. People seem to like them, I'm debating getting a set myself.

I just ordered a set of Hankook V12's for my new wheels.

225/30/20
245/35/20

Obviously doing a stretch, but the total came to $560 U.S shipped to my mailbox. My new rims are arriving there in a week so I will be getting them installed in the states.

^^ Don't you have to pay brokerage & duty fee at your door with UPS? That's the only reason that stopped me from doing that + it doesnt come installed.

Summers

Hi guys,

I've been looking to get a set of summer tires and I'm thinking of going with the continental extreme contact DW, 235/45/18
I was quoted $1000 + tax which includes install in GTA.
Tirerack price is 728 but add-in the shipping and brokerage/duty and the savings become minimal.

Is the quoted reasonable? I've been reading mostly good things on the Contis but was also wondering if there's anything comparable that might be cheaper.

Looking forward to the input, thanks!

^ Here is what Simply Tire (in T.O.)currently has in that size.

235-45-18

Falken ZE912 $720.00
Hankook H105 $760.00
Kumho Ecsta SPT $790.00
Kumho ASX $780.00
Continental Extreme DWS $940.00

- pricing includes, the mounting, balancing and installation of your tires along with new valves and the disposal of your old tires..HST extra

One brand I LOVE and have never done me wrong are Toyo Proxies FZ4 they give a nice ride and aren't that bad in the rain. I bought 20's off of Chico 3 Years ago and I don't know how long he had them before me, with the car lowered and no Camber Kit I have gotten well over 40k with them and they finally need to be replaced, I'm not a conservative driver (although never do burnouts).

Conti extreme contact DWS

FWIW - I just ordered a set of Contis extreme contact DWS from tirerack.

For 225/40/19 - $177 per tire and approx $1k with tax/duty/shipping incl. The review on these are pretty good. Note that the DWS rates better than the DW only for some reason.

I've also heard good things about the Yoko Avid Envigor - these came out last year and sold like hotcakes due to price, performance, and wear rating.

I was also considering the Toyo Proxes 4s but these were more expensive and lower UTQG - not that these numbers are comparable across brands.

On Tirerack the DW (summer tire) rates 8.9 and the DWS (all season tire) rates 8.5
You could have bought the DW (a better tire??) from Simply tire in that size for $1200 balanced, installed with new valves.
http://www.simplytire.com/tires19.html

I find most good tire retailers around here will pretty much find you a set of tires that they can match Tireracks pricing if you call and talk to them.

Another example.

These Kumho's would be $793 from Tirerack shipped to S. Ont. or $820 balanced and installed at Simply Tire locally.

I know I sound like a broken record. I don't even know anyone at Simply Tire.
I just think we can get the same deals locally if we look/call around.

I went to a local retailer when we needed new van tires. He matched Tireracks shipped price and didn't bat an eye. His price was also installed with 1 year puncture warranty were they will patch/plug free if needed.

Tirerack is very good but lately I just use there price to negotiate with local retailers...and it works.
