Ohhhh probably throw on the tightest jersey I can find so I look tough Bought shoes and pedals tonight...I'm impatient and the thought of waiting in an hour or longer line makes me nauseous. Narrower bar getting thrown on tomorrow and then she'll be all mine...likely sitting in the basement until it warms up Still stoked!

Come to COP. I'll race you. You have to figure out where the smooth bits are though. :P

Nice bike, thinking about getting a giant tcr advance before summer. You should upgrade your components to ultegra or dura ace down the road if youre serious cause they shift alote better. Ride safe!

Spoke like a true.......

Due to the ban hammer I wont finish that but I bet your buddies at the bath house you are always talking about love your shorts

Is the Shimano 105 DRIVETRAIN some sort of fancy seat to go with those shorts?? Sweet spot Eh?? **Sylvan puts his back to the wall as he exits the thread.

PS nice bike aside from all of the other stuff that is so wrong going on in here.

I think once I get more experience and know what I'm missing in a bike, I'll get a full carbon with min. Ultegra parts and high end wheels. Until then, I just need to get into shape and hope I don't fall over while still clipped in...HA.

End of summer goal is to make a round trip starting from Spruce Meadows to Bragg Creek (~80km). Or maybe my place here in Nose Hill to Canmore if I keep at it (~200km).

People spend crazy amounts of money on their hobbies but if that's what their interest is than as the old saying goes you get what you pay for. I've spent thousands on my DJ equipment but that's because I DJ frequently and I want good reliable stuff. Not everybody spends their last penny on their car I'd trade my car (if I still had it) before my DJ equipment in a heartbeat.

Definitely post up the rest of your gear...shoes, pedals etc.

Sylvan, I'll send you a picture. Ten pounds of sausage in a five pound bag, that's all I'm sayin'.

I've got the clipless pedals on my Cannondale... I took them off when I ride trails... ever wiped on an uphill trail and tried to get your foot in so you could start pedalling again? It's not easy

@Gord,

That second girl is pretty damn fine! Nice find.

@Swivel,

Well aside from shorts/bibs, patch kit, extra tubes and a short-sleeve jersey, I should have everything to start. Maybe a comp to keep track of distance. MEC has a 15.00 one that seems highly rated among users.

Ended up with these shoes. Worked out well considering the pair I had intended on getting were 315 and to my surprise these were over half that. Coupled with a Shimano 105 clipless pedal. Decided to walk like a duck and get road shoes. Picked up some gel-padded gloves too. Lastly, a Sugoi long-sleeve jersey from Sportcheck for a mere 40 bucks. Was originally 100-something, marked down to $80 then got 50% off.

One of the local guys on Beyond has been helping me pick stuff out quite a bit and turns out, he's building a profile to be a cycling coach and has offered to give a couple intro lessons for free!

Now for this snow to go away. If anyone wants to hit the road, both on a bike or in a car, I'm down!

You may not need to buy a bike comp. If you own a smart phone with GPS, give something like Endomondo Sports Tracker a try. There a plenty of free excercise apps.

Those are nice shoes. Too bad you're so far away, I'd definitely go for a spin with ya.

And if I looked like that blonde I'd never leave the house, LOL!
