I don't know much about bikes at all, so I can't say if it's awesome or not..

But I've been wanting to get a decent bike for a while now.

So congrats!

they're about $1500-1700 around here, depending on a few specs and where you look.
+ pedals/shoes and accessories.

Nice bike. That will bring you many miles of pleasure. Stay safe with all those crazy G drivers on the road.

I paid 16xx after taxes. I was between this and a full carbon fiber bike but that was another 1000 for the one I wanted.

The sky is the limit with road bikes. I was definitely surprised at the sticker prices upon first looking at them. And as I quickly found out, the sky is almost the limit if you have the money. Like buying a 20,000 bike is possible if you want! It gets kind of ridiculous.

The first thing to do will be to find some bike shorts that don't look super gay

Skys the limit with any sort of bike these days. I personally couldn't bring myself to spend big dollars on a bike without big suspension. Probably why I have a Santa Cruz v10 (if anyone even knows what that is). I don't know if there is such a thing as roadie gear that doesnt make you look like a homo haha.

Awesome ride, Matt, I tool around on my vintage 80s Bianchi roadie.

And yes, all road bike shorts look ghey, but they are functional so just get over it. Shimano 105 drivetrain, IMO that's the sweet spot.

Very Nice Bike. Enjoy it! I have a Sekine and a Broadie for off road both are almost 20 years old. I've got to try to get out there more this year - I need the exercise!! Wasn't very much like biking weather in TO today!
