i did this in my previous car...guys it's not hard. Get the cluster out and there are little twist in harness for the bulbs. You can solder on some LEDs in place of the bulb on the harness and you're done (might have to add a series resistor, to match the LED+resistor impendance to that of the initial bulb).

I can give guidance but dont actually feel like taking my car apart and doing it lol.

Its not hard. Just takes patience, steady hand, and some experience with soldering. I did mine in red and a couple local guys too. I would help you out but I'm all the way in Chicago.

Did you follow a certain DIY write up and did you have any hot spots?

I read a short tutorial online for soldering SMD LEDs and then bought a gauge cluster off ebay to mess around and see what it was like. Mine was an 05+ so I have no hotspots (direct unsolder and solder new leds). The 04- clusters need extra diffusers and wide angle leds w/ resistors or there would be hotspots.

If you have an 03-04 dont do it. I had my done, th eneedles have never been the same, or the leds that I have flicker on and off, or burn out, its not worth all the trouble. The 05-07 cluster is a little easier.

I have 06 coupe - sounds like it is easier with no hot spots? Why is that - because 05+ uses LED as OEM?

you can just buy an o5 cluster then...it'll be easy if you have an extra cluster to work with, swap out bulbs for LEDs and tada.

^ I can consider doing this for practice... but still worried about removing all the centre consoles...

... we should definitely find someone in GTA who's done this perfectly - and convince him to do this for others for a good price... they need some incentives too...

who's up for this? =)

Op I had sexyrob do my 04......local guy. All 03-04 have to remove the oem gauge face and sand down the back of it to remove the Orange paint....secondly all 03-04 gauge cluster require leds and resistor built since we do not have leds in place. I will post pics of mine up shortly. There are Def hot spots because of the bulb functionality however the look is 10x better. Now for all 05-up its strictly soldering off original leds and soldering ok new ones same goes for most interior pieces....window switches, heated Sways, ac display, and ac controller. That's my input currently while typing on my cell....lol! Will provide more input later on with pics.

Everything is very easy to remove...find the DIY on radio/double din installs that's half of what you require. Then find the diy to the lighting steering wheel controls and that's the steering wheel area removal...

well the picture in the post #7 is actually mine but as you can tell mine is an 03,
which i think it is more difficult than the later models (at least removing the centre console)

i agree with hossmaxima with needles being a little dimmer than before but mine's not bad at all. i saw bunch of people failing to spread that light in the cluster creating hot spots

anyway, i don't have any experience with 05-07 clusters so i can't comment anything about them but if it's just a matter of soldering new LEDs, the task will be very easy and you should be able to DIY. same with the buttons in the centre console (and they're easier to remove compared to 03-04s).
