best material you can use it's MDF 5/8 or 3/4 ,wood glue and some 16ga staples to put everything together.

I wood, if I was closer. You might consider going into a Rona to their cutting area. Show them a drawing or just the measurements you want for the box and IIRC they will sell you the material and build it for you. Or you could have them cut the material and glue and nail it yourself.GL

Eric,

Are you keeping the "trunk" functional?
Where do you want the box mounted?
What kind of amp is going inside?
The amp will need space for heat dissipation for sure.

You could build a backing to mount onto the back to the rear seats and mount the amp there.

There are many options...

if your ggoing to be mounting to the seat, id say leave the box and just mount it straight on...

^^ I agree, Rona is pretty good when it comes down to cutting wood for free. It's also a lot less mess than doing it at your house

Need a simple box to house a jl 500 amp and cross over box for the front speaker and a JL 300/2 amp

The box will replace the spare tire essentially. And I will need help to run the wire from battery to amp. Trying to do all these myself to save on cost.
