Yes, yet another one of "those" threads. Sorry in advance. I did my best to use search and scour the net for an answer; but I figured you guys would probably be able to help me best.

Situation: I've loved G35 Coupes since they first came out of 2003 and I'm finally in a financial position where I can afford one. I've been looking at G35 coupes for nearly 2 years now - but still havnt found the right one. I'm most interested in 2006/2007 models because of the cosmetic differences (albeit very minor), added HP, less interior rattle and since they generally have lower KMs.

I recently came across a beautiful 2006 IP and went for a test drive. This is the one - at least I hope... I made an offer but the seller declined. I truly believe my offer is fair - but the owner is asking for another $1,000.00. Should I stay firm and wait it out or counter offer? I'm worried that I'm going to over pay for the car because of the desparate situation I'm in.

2006s were selling on Autotrader/Kijiji for ~19K last winter. With summer approaching, it looks like the asking prices have skyrocketed to ~23/24 on average.

OEMs are BALD. Litterally -5% thread left...
1 noticeable stone chip on front bumper, rest of car is very clean & appears to be well looked after.

If the OEM's are bald, that wouldn't pass safety, would it? New tires would cost upwards of $1000 anyways, which it sounds like he's not replacing.

 

^It won't pass a safety with the OEMs. If I can strike a deal with the seller I'll either have to put on the snow tires or bring it my friend's dealership. I know its not safe to drive with tires in their current state so that'll be the first thing I replace if/when I buy the car.

I've already used the Bald tires excuse in my offer. I'm not necessarily expecting the tires to be brand new on a used vehicle; so I deducted $500 for the tires and my troubles.

 

i wouldnt pay more than 19.5k. 20k max if it had tires
