I'm soooooooooo envious of the fact that you guys even know what you're talking about. I've got hella swirl on my paint from the days where I stupidly went into a DIY wash and actually used the brush. I might as well have been moonwalking across my hood with ski boots on...

There was a guy in Seattle who was going to do a "tuition detail" where he would coach you and show you proper techniques and what products have which effect- and he was going to do it for free just because he loves it. I could probably learn how to do it enough to clean up some of my own mess- but until then I guess it's time to spend a little more money!

Why not have it fixed then maintain it? There has to be someone in the GVA that does proper detailing.

^ Unfortunately I don't remember the name, however if you don't mind doing some reading you can find a LOT of great information here on proper detailing techniques.

Pay the air ticket for Picus, ask him to detail it for you...I am pretty sure will worth it. LoL

End of stupid jokes!

I learn my first step of detailing from Picus post and thread. Read more, look at product for a week, and u will know abit more on steps of washing. Again, wax'n isn't the most important, it's the first step of every wash. The answer would be your Microfiber cloth! Wash your car from top (roof) to bottom, use a few cloth for the wash procedure like 2 to 3 panel than change a new one.

Check this link out, I have it bookmarked as my reminder on forgotten info!

If you are looking for learning detailing, I recommend you start from wash and wax, see if you could handle the time and know better on your paint before getting into polish! I am excited to do polishing nor scare I will mess things up. But I believe with Picus helps and some other pro here could walk me through any trouble I get into.

Ps. Try looking some info on the web for "two bucket wash" procedure...

How many SUV I could do with 16oz size polish? As mention above, Menzerna is going to be the brand I am using.

Could water be used if I am buffing off the polish?

Thanks,
Kcc

It's hard to say on how many cars. For compounding if you're doing one pass per section you could likely do 3-4 with a 16oz bottle, but realistically probably less. For the finishing polishes you use a lot less. 16oz will likely do 6+ SUVs.

Water can be used to help buff off residue for sure. Generally speaking though, if residue is tough to remove you may be doing something wrong (usually too much product or not enough working time).
