Help: Buying a G35
Help: Buying a G35
These topics have probably already been discussed before but I'm new here and new to the G35 scene, so please bear with me.
I'm looking at buying a 2005 G35 M6? sedan in the GTA. The vehicle has the "Prem" (Premium Package?: ?Heated seats? + ???) and "Nav". The dealer provided a Carfax report that stated the vehicle had 2 reported accidents. One was minor and the second one was moderate (to the right side). The dealer said he would provide a Carproof report at the next meeting (when he would sell me the car). He would also send the car to an Infiniti dealer for inspection.
1. Does anyone know what "Carfax moderate damage" means?
2. I've seen some Carproof reports. How reliable are they?
I read on another thread about another/better (American) report company.
3. Are there any problems with the additional (not required) "Nav" package?
4. What are the major issues with these vehicles (other than brakes)? How are the electrics ( e.g. power seats)/electronics?
Thanks in advance.

My advice would be to take it to a Infiniti dealership and pay to get it checked out or if you have a reliable mechanic go that route.
"Moderate", "Light", you will never know what happened to the car unless you were to see actual pictures and a full repair spec sheet of what needed to be fixed.
My mechanic went through 3 cars before I found a G that I would be satisfied with. I payed him each and everytime he did an inspection but so far the car drives like a dream and I trusted his judgement.
Despite what the carfax says, what the dealer will tell you, get it checked out by a professional, specially that is has been in two accidents and make sure the mechanic checks out the areas that have had a report against them.

Get it checked by a mechanic, prob charge you an hour of labour. If cars in accidents are repaired properly, there likely isnt gonna be any issues...you might actually get some newer parts out of it. But if it was chop shopped you wanna stay away.
My car has an accident history (none before i purchased it 4 years ago, but ones i was involved in) but has only been professionally fixed up at approved insurance shops. Car is functionally sound.

Here are a few places to start if you are really lost....
www.kijiji.ca
www.autotrader.ca
www.craigslist.org
G35 Driver Canadian classified section (should be your first place to search)
and Google is always a good bet I find. I would go through all the sites 2-3 times a day to see if a new car popped up that fits the specs I wanted.
Good luck!
