Off-Lease 2008 G35X - Certified vs Non Certified?

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! New member here and just discovered the site.

I'm interested in purchasing a 2008 G35X. I'm located in the GTA and have noticed a lot of these around, most of them state that they are off lease. I hope some of you would be able to help me with some of my questions.

A CPO is about 26k

A non-CPO, but also from a dealer is 23.5
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Infiniti/...1009123218130/

How come the non-CPOs at dealer's aren't certified? How much of a risk am I taking with the latter?

I've also noticed a lot of those car-lot dealers with off-lease G35x's (e.g. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Infiniti/...1121105641045/) Are these to be avoided?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

to me cpo doesint mean anything.

go drive all 3 see what you think.

imo, the 1 thats $18,900, great deal as long as its a clean title, check it out, make sure it hasint had any work done to it ( a clean title with previous damage ) .

If it checks out to good, go for it, screw cpo lol. Most these small dealers when they buy these cars from auctons they get them checked out as well, same way your investing your money into it, there investing there money into buying something that will sell.

19grand versus 26 grand, big difference lol. i would never pay 7grand more plus the tax difference almost 8 grand just for the fact of getting a certified pre owned.

imo, the black 1 for 19grand, no brainer.

+1 i got my 2003 g35 coupe back in 2008 from a toyota dealer, apparently the owner gave the G and bought himself a lexus. it was just off financing. i have been happy ever since, because i drove it had all service records and car proof. if i had any suspicion i wold have gone to somewhere else. drive the car, check the title and ask some detailed questions to see if they crack. CPO doesnt mean anything seriously. take this story, one of my bro didnt listen to me and rather than going for G went for 3 series , it was better mileage than mine(40K less), from bmw at leslie and eglinton, but he spent so many weekends waiting for his car from mechanic at the dealer. he was hooked on loaners. eventually sold it.good luck with the sale, old service records and a mechanic check would be the best way to go..

Just want to point out that the linked 2007 G35x for $19k does not appear to have the Premium package, which in 07 included;
- Tinted glass power sunroof
- Studio on Wheels Bose audio system
- Drivers seat, steering wheel and outside mirror memory system
- Drivers seat power lumbar support
- Power tilt/telescoping steering wheel
- One-touch up/down rear window function
- Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror with Homelink
- Bluetooth hands-free phone system
- Heated front seats and front outside mirrors ( standard on G35x)

A couple of the easiest identifiers to whether the car has the premium package is the existence of a sunroof and/or the phone button on the steering wheel.

Edit: Be careful - in the pics, one of the steering wheels has more buttons than the other. Two different cars used for the same advertisement? Also, a round black disc on the dash near the speaker, in one pic and not the other.

Thanks for the advice guys. How does it work if I want to get a car checked out by a mechanic? Does the dealer lend it to me for a few hours while I take it to a mechanic? Are there any that you would recommend? I'm a newbie to purchasing used cars.

It cost the dealer money to run a car through the CPO process so the price is higher. On the plus side you get the Infiniti CPO extended warranty built in.
