Buying a 2004 G35 coupe

Hi guys,

So I'm seeing a couple g35 coupes this weekend (through Craigslist ads) and if i happen to make my decision on one where do you guys recommend me to get the car inspected? I live in Vancouver and I know for sure that the Infiniti dealership will charge a high price for the inspection.

Also, I've been reading it online that if i get the buyer to gift the car to me then i don't have to pay taxes? Is this true?

TIA

Can't comment on your questions, but curious what colour/trim/mileage/price etc you're looking at.

Regarding taxes at least here in Ontario the only way u can avoid paying taxes is if its gifted from
father son mother daughter sister brother uncle aunt neice nefew
what u can do us lets say u bought the car for $15000
u tell the ministry u bought it for like 9000-10000 and that way you can save a big chunk of money in taxes...if they ask for proof try to pay for the car with 10 grand in certified cheque and the rest in cash that way it shows that u gave 10G in a cheque and the cash will be un-tracable

Thanks guys for all the info!

Here's another question. How much is it roughly to service/maintain a 2004 G35 coupe (through a third party dealership) annually? I 'm just looking for a ball park answer so i have a solid number to refer to when i look at the costs to owning one of these bad boys.

Assuming the car is well taken care of over the past years.

Oil changed are about $70 including oil and filter and labour every 5000km or so Ive had mine for about 10 month's and so far that's the only thing I've been doing. ..brakes and tired depend on how u use them...if u have manual transmission and you downshift u can save your brakes a lot...tires depends on you and other than that after owning for about a year I can't say too much on cost of owning one over a long term but is say pretty dam.good...andd gas....$80 is like 500km of city and a bit of highway driving

Brakes are hella less expensive than clutches and engines. Best to use them instead, changing down only when you anticipate the need to accelerate again.

I would just lift to slow down, brakes when you need to stop, downshift when you're going down a hill.

But $70 for an oil change with 5k OCI? You using synthetic or what?

I'm doing 5k OCI with regular dino and my mechanic charges me $32, thinking of going to synthetic and doing 8k.

Maintenance costs aren't cheap. Last year I changed trans and diff oil, brakes, tie rods, alignments. So far this year I changed a front bearing and soon to change both compression rods. Belts and spark plugs too. I will need new summer tires. They only last for like one summer and a half lol.

If you decide to lower the car an put huge spacers on, it wears out some stuff faster than normal. Which is what I did/do.

.... oil changes every 5k km with synthetic oil. Very easy to do on your own. I've been changing my own oil because I save money. I change it every two months.

If u have the brembos I know they aren't that much more amazing in terms of stopping power but they are more expensive...and everyone i know with a manual g35 downshifts while approaching traffic lights..as long as you rev match properly it should not really wear ur clutch or tranny. ..am I right?
