1st gen clutch was a different animal too. Basically more like an on/off switch. I also loved the auto 7 spd in several of the 37's I drove.
I agree with what you're saying versus S2K and trying 6mt.

I have one word of caution for you re the 6MT...
The clutch feel of 2nd gen 6mt is a very different kind of beast.
But if it's your only car then you do eventually get used to it.

My personal experience with having the BMW as well is; I got spoiled by the BMW 6mt and in time wished that I had the auto trany in the G.
The two were drastically different and the G clutch feel lacked severely by comparison.

In your case with the S2K (best 6mt ever) I think the situation would be even more extreme than mine.
It may be difficult to impossible to find one to drive in your area, but I would highly recommend it before closing a deal.

....just putting it out there to consider.

QFT.

But removing the assist spring makes it nearly tolerable. Still I cannot consistently work this clutch to my own satisfaction - I'm either too abrupt or slipping it too much - can't get the feel for it. And it's the only MT I drive now, every day commuting. Could be something to do with the VVEL and/or DBW too.

A 7AT with flappy paddles would be the thing for this car.

Ian, thanks for the info. The last 6MT that I drove in a G was Deane's Coupe in Shediac.......and we both know how long ago that was. And TBH, this has been something that I've completely overlooked and never thought about. So thanks for pointing it out, and it could very well have an impact on my decision. It might be too much of a difference going from the S2K to a 6MT G.

Good luck, I had to look for mine for a while, they can be found. I have never seen a used 09+ 6mt for sale when I looked last april here yet but 07-08 attainable. It's frustrating because on autotrader 80% of the time they list it as manual and its an auto sport with paddle shifters.

The most common color combos I have seen on a 6mt sedan:
black/black
IP/stone <-- what I have
IP/wheat (I could not find one of these tho, I hear they exist)
red/black
PG/stone
silver/stone

I couldn't do black interior in Texas, it's just too damn hot.

I did find an 09 actually was a real 6mt, in my home town ironically: http://cargur.us/4F93
All the other listings I found on cargurus were mislabed sport autos or just plain incorrect (A couple with no pics of shifter, don't waste time on those IMO 99% chance it's not a real 6mt).

Not buying a new g coupe until they restyle it up. Not nearly as aggressive looking as it should be.
