I Think It's G Time Again

So......I think it's time to get back into a G again. It's been about 15 months or so since I've had my G and I miss it dearly. Back in Dec 2010, I returned my leased G35S and got a 2011 Ford Edge Ltd. I got the Edge because I thought that I would need the extra space for two kids and wanted to have AWD. In short, I was wrong and I wish I would of purchased out the lease of my G.

So now, the lease on my Edge is being taken over by another person on Monday and I leased a new loaded Civic EX-L for my wife as her DD. My plan at this point is to start looking this spring south of the border for a used G Sedan. My main preference is an IP Sedan with 6MT but it will probably come down to what kind of deal I can get. 6MT is a must though.

6MT = no AWD. You sure? (He said, knowing perfectly well you are, LOL)

Good for you, Shane!

My ultimate find is an IP G35S 6MT with graphite interior.

It's funny, I've totally regretted letting my last G35 go pretty much from day one. I'd even venture to say that it was my biggest mistake that I've made when it comes to cars. Oh well. live and learn I guess. The wife is happy to have her new Civic next week, I'm happy to have an S2K in my garage, and hopefully another G soon as well.

I'd love to have a Coupe but it has to be a Sedan. I don't want to have two vehicles in the house that can't accommodate kids.

I can fit two adults including a 5'8" Italian bodybuilder co-worker in the back seat. And unlike the sedan, the back seat folds flat so you can haul lumber and such (oh the looks at Home Depot...). Kids should be no problem. :P

And they're safer back there - no doors to open. Car seats are actually easier to load with said kids - straighter shot once the front seat is folded forward.

...OK - salesman mode off...

As much as I love your rationale, it will definitely be a Sedan. Trying to put two young kids in and out of car seats in a Coupe doesn't interest me. The rear doors on the Sedan open to virtually 90 degrees so it makes it a breeze to put the little ones in. If I already didn't have a toy I might consider the Coupe, but I don't want to have 2 out of 3 cars in the stable that can't or is difficult to transport my little ones.

Awesome. Hope you find it, but what you are looking for will be extremely rare, If ip/Black its only 2007 year. I for one have been looking for one for a long time, but i think i will go with PG/6mt, but 6mt cars are so hard to find. Cars.com and Autotrader have like 20 cars with 6mt in the whole US its crazy.

Best of luck in your search. Hope you find exactly what you're looking for.

While I'm sure the Edge is not the most fun vehicle out there, I fully understand your rationale for choosing it for family duty.

Still, imagine how amazing it will feel to be driving a G again.

........
File this under FWIW......

I have one word of caution for you re the 6MT...
The clutch feel of 2nd gen 6mt is a very different kind of beast.
But if it's your only car then you do eventually get used to it.

My personal experience with having the BMW as well is; I got spoiled by the BMW 6mt and in time wished that I had the auto trany in the G.
The two were drastically different and the G clutch feel lacked severely by comparison.

In your case with the S2K (best 6mt ever) I think the situation would be even more extreme than mine.
It may be difficult to impossible to find one to drive in your area, but I would highly recommend it before closing a deal.

....just putting it out there to consider.
