Angry WTB: Winter Tires

Sad day for me, as my winter beater may have kicked the bucket. My 1991 Volvo 940 Turbo has been with me for many years and I will be very sad to let her go...

apparently the ecu is dead and the only hope would be to find a used/wreck one.

anyway, I will have to look around for some winter wheels incase I do need to drive my G in the snow...

Anybody still have a set of winters they want to sell? let me know.
(have brembos, in GTA)

Winters

I got a set of Hankook Ice Bears from www.tiretrends.ca

Very reasonable price and have been enjoying my G in the winter.

Contact Harry @ Bigwheelz.com, I got my winter setup from him. He had the best prices by far and was great to deal with. He is also a member here, big_h i believe is his online name.

do you mind telling me how much you paid? did you drive it during the crazy snow storm back in december? how did it hold up? I know that hanooks are definitely the cheapest, but I wonder how much of a difference it makes. I am not too worried about dry performance, as I think that is where most of the money goes when you buy Blizzaks or Snowsports.

I know big_h has pretty good prices, but I would prefer to find a used set since I don't plan on driving it much if at all.

also I've some people are getting a decent price from some place in scarborough (~$1300 for BSA17" + tires) ...gonna have to search around when I have time later...

I agree with Radjack79. You should contact bigh (aka Harry). I have just ordered a set of Hankook W300 Ice Bears with alloy rims at a very reasonable price. I have Blizzaks and Hankooks on two of my other cars (one recently sold when I purchased by G35x), both are great tires. Hankooks are much cheaper and have a cooler looking tread patter IMO. I suggest you get a nice set of rims (not necessarly an expensive set) with winters mounted on them. If you find that you will not drive your G next winter, then offer the set for sale on the forum. You could probably sell them for $200 to $300 less than what you paid for them. Or keep them, drive your car during the winter and have a touchless car wash once a week. Cars depreciate so quickly, might as well enjoy them.
