Need help in hurry, Canadian Import Tax of the wheels.

Finally i decide to buy Volk Racing SF-WINNING from 350ZonlineStore.(in U.S)
But I am located in Vancouver Canada.
So the wheels they sell to me is $3100 include tires ,shipping and everything.
But i am worry about the import tax charge.
Anyone knows that how much Tax will it charge to buy the wheels outside of Canada and ship it directly to my door?
All the answers will be appreciated.

Tax is not the worry, as much as brokerage fees. How did you have the item shipped? If it has not left yet, ask for/demand USPS/Canada Post. Flat rate brokerage is miniscule. Brokerage for UPS will be costly. Not to scare you, but possibly as much as 70 bucks per wheel, depending how the order is invoiced. UPS is a rip-off. Stay away from them like the plague.
Please let the group know how it all works out.

Cheers,
Derek

if the rims are manufactured in north america then there shouldn't be any duties/taxes. if they are manufactured elsewhere... then it's another story. could be as high as 15%. i'm guessing brokerage fee's will be around 40$ cdn for all 4 rims. try and have them ship it as one package rather then multiple packages (saves on clearance and brokerage). i believe the harmonization code for auto rims is 8714.92.00.00. we have a sister company in south carolina... so i deal with a lot of importing back and forth. some of our goods are manufactured out of north america. you'll probably have to pay for gst as well. hope that helps. check the canada border services website for more info: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/

-regards.

ps. just remembered... ups has a new service for international shipments. u pay all duties/taxes/brokerage fees upfront. this way u know how much it is. here is a tool from ups to calculate some of the landing charges: https://wwwapps.ups.com/tradeability?loc=en_CA

www.bigwheelz.com. The phone number is there on the website. Harry has done a lot for G drivers on this forum.

So if i ask the seller to claim the wheels worth $2000.
and the total duty/tax/brokage charge will be around:$2000x15%+$40=$340 ,right?

yes... it would based on the value of the goods. if u haven't purchased the rims yet, i would strongly consider harry @ bigwheelz. i purchased a winter tire/wheel package from him... and it was well worth it. it also saves all the aggrevation of going over the border... which these days seems to be getting worse and worse.

Here's what big_h (Harry) posted on another site for Volk Wheels.

http://www.g35.ca/board/index.php?showtopic=3049

I purchased some rims prior to the new year from him, amazing guy to deal with.

On such a high value shipment, the value of $2000 will not cover the full value if the shipment gets lost, or damaged. Just a heads up...and before anyone here says its highly unlikely to happen...I've had two shipments disappear off the radar since December...One set here in Canada (lost at Toronto UPS Hub) and the other coming from the States (Fedex HUB)...thank gawd I declared full value.

Just a heads up.

Don't quote me on the exact numbers for various items, but I've been getting motocross stuff sent over for years. After much frustration with the whole brokerage fee issue, I began asking for things to be sent via USPS/Canada Post. Brokerage fees were flat rate 5$.
I know, because the guy on the other end of the phone in one case messed up and sent it UPS, against my wishes. Brokerage fee for a 200 dollar item was 70 bucks!, in addition to costing more for the shipping, and worse, taking the same amount of time as snail mail to get from California to Nova Scotia (where I was living at the time) due to delays at the brokerage house in Montreal. Duties and taxes were additional to this cost. Fortunately, on my invoice it read "customer requires USPS ground only; do not send via UPS" so I was refunded all but 5 bucks by the very courteous company that I placed the order with.
My buddy just bought a pair of bicycle pedals on Ebay for $120CDN. He was charged $40 for brokerage fees by UPS. I bought some FRS radios for about the same, mailed USPS. 5 bucks for brokerage fees.
I'd like to see Brown and all the brokerage houses go out of business- what they charge truly amounts to highway robbery.

yeah, ups sucks, but fedex seems to be alright. i got a veilside lip sent from texas through fedex and they didn't charge me any fee at all. it may have been included in the shipping fee, but i don't think so.

anyway, it would be great to know what the total price will be, i was looking at a set of rims myself, still haven't figured out if the american price is actually better than the canadian price...

order them and let us know
