TPMS Sensor - can i buy online

Hi

Local place wants $350 for 4 sensors and install which seems a bit much.
I found 4 online ebay for $100.new.

Do these have to be programmed? Is it a bad idea using aftermarket TPMS sensors?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan, yes the sensors have to be programmed. Dealer can do it for a fee or you can do it per the free method on the forum.

If you want a cheap alternative and brand new, aftermarket VDO makes TPMS sensors that are a great OEM style replacement.

Thanks for the quick reply!
How are universal brands? Like Autel

Is this the manual reset method you referred to:
1. Use a jumper to link the TPMS connector to ground (figure 2).
2. Key On Engine Off
3. Momentarily disconnect and plug back in the TPMS connector (5 to 6 times)
4. The TMPS warning light will blink when the system starts initiating.
5. Start the reset procedure with the left-front tire, then the right-front tire, then the right-rear tire, and end with the left-rear tire
6. Once the system has completed the reset procedure, the TPMS warning light on the dashboard will automatically stop flashing

Would i have to do this every time i swap the winter tires with summer tires (both sets with TPMS Sensor)

Every season, as they are getting new sensors each season.

Not sure aboht Autel, I can confirm VDO works with flying colors.
