stone Chip Repair

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a used 2003 silver G35 coupe 6MT. The previous owner had kept it in very good condition except for a big stone chip on the front of the hood, right above the infiniti emblem. It's slightly dented inward and the paint has chipped off. Does anyone know if I can get it repaired locally around the affected area such that it can not be noticed after. Basically, is it possible for a shop to do such a good job that the repaired area will look as though it never was repaired? What about the paint? Will it match the original factory colour? Or will there be 2 shades of silver on the hood? If so, does anyone know a reputable shop around the Toronto area that can do it for a reasonable price. Can someone please provide some info regaring this issue?

As you can find all over this forum, rock chips are easilly found on all of our cars. It sounds as though the one your refering to is quite large, with a dent. The dent should not be a problem for any good body shop, but the paint will be tough to blend in, especially on the hood. If you are going to let anyone do it, you must find a shop witha good reputation...DO NOT CHOOSE the cheapest quote. I am in Alberta so I do not know of any shops near you, but it can be done if you find the right place to do it for you.
Good luck

Thanks for the info. Now, the question is which body shop can do the best job. I don't mind paying a little extra as long as it's a good job, but I guess I'll never really know until after the fact.

Where are you located. I have one or two I could recommend.

One thing to look for is a shop that does custom paint work.

Stay away from shops that do collision work.
They just want to get it in & out as quick as possible.

InTgr8r,

I live in the west end of Toronto. Do you know of any reputable custom paint shops?

Don't know anyone to recommend in the west end, but....

There's a guy in Thornhill that painted the lower valances
on my sedan. He did a great job.
He does a lot of custom paint jobs & recently did one of the Meguires show cars.
He was also fairly resonable on his pricing.

If this is of any use to you, the shop is;
Technik Autoworks
905-771-1182
17 Harlech Court,
Thornhill, ON
L3T 6L5

-ask for Lawrence (it's sometimes hard to get him to the phone)

Thanks, I will definitely give them a call to see what they can do. Im sure it's probably best to visit them so they can directly see what needs to be repaired.
