Any cdn's do a double din conversion?

i'm thinking of upgrading the head unit on my car. i got a quote of $2000 for the pioneer avic-d1.

just wondering if any canadian's have done something similar and how and where did u get the dd kit? the j's garage contact seems really expensive at around 400-500 bucks u.s. is this the only channel we really have? i haven't contacted him personally so i don't even know if he will ship it to canada. i hate how complicated today's cars are.

my contact for the pioneer is mariano vivacqua at autotronics in mississauga. never used this guy before. if anyone has some other contacts for the toronto area please let me know. thanks in advance for any help.

-regards.

I went to the car show last month, it was custom car show at International Airport. There was a section for Concepts on Wheels, full of audio section and I was pretty amazed that I recieved a lot of information. Every company product have their own representive (represent thier products). I visit the Kenwood section and you would not believe how Kenwood's products are much more advance than any other products. I recieved a lot of information from Kenwood's representive and in the future i will buy only Kenwood products.

Giddy, you can check the site http://www.conceptsonwheels.com and it is located in Markham. The price maybe good or not, but you best do the negoitate with the manager or the owner.

G'Luck

I think your best bet is to look around in the Audio forums and maybe Classifieds too. Most DD kits go for about $300US. not much you can do about duty + taxes. try to get them to ship via FedEx, they seem more reasonable than UPS. or take a chance with USPS, they are less likely to kill you with customs fees.

Hey guys....
Any further developments?
Did you install yet?

I just got a quote from J's for an '04 ($US)
Controller 220.50
Trim 56.90 +5% comm +shipping $40 ?duty

Grubbs is $200 + $64 ++

I found an audio guy in Newmarket that quoted $1,8xx. for the AVIC-D1.
He said he could do better for cash or debit card.
I think he might also cut a deal for multiple units.

Why don't you go to http://grandtuner.com/ which will be held on July 8,9, 10. You will get a lot of info because there will be a lot of vendors coming to that show and you prolly get a better deal at the show.
