Hydraulic Floor Jack

Hey Guys,

I am trying to get a hold of a good hydrauic floor jack. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a store around the Toronto area that carries a good quality jack. First, I went to the most obvious stores such as Canadian tire and Partsource but they only sell low quality jacks that are made in Taiwan or China. The internet has a wide variety of professional grade jacks but the cost of shipping and customs taxes are way too much. Does anyone know where I can get a good jack (preferrable made in the USA) around the Toronto area?

There's a pretty well-built AC Delco hydraulic floor jack at Sam's Club of all places...looks to be built a lot sturdier than anything at Canadian Tire.

Did you try Sears? I think Craftsman products are made in the US, but I might be wrong.

Oh Yeah...Craftsman has great tools. I already tried Sears, but they don't carry any jacks...at least not in Canada. Sears in the United States a large selection of hydraulic floor jacks so I asked if they could order one for me but they said that Sears in Canada is a different company from the Sears in the US. This did not make sense to me.

Yeah, I already asked them about this, but they said it wasn't available. I guess I'll have to keep searching around. I'll ask my mechanic to see where he buys his jacks. Thanks for all the input!

In the big smoke you should have many dozens of places. I don't know if you have Princess Auto out there but that's where I got mine. Good selection and quality.

Haha I passed on that one and ended up with a 3 ton for $149. If I had it to do over again I would buy a low profile one since getting the G.

Hey Diesel1,

I checked out the sears website and the 1.5 ton jack that you bought was listed at $119.00...I think it's the same. Was it grey and red? They also had a similar aluminum racing jack, but the load capacity was rated slightly higher...2 tons. It was 200 bucks! Actually, since the G35 coupe's curb weight is 4400 pounds, I wouldnt mind getting a jack that has a larger load capacity even though a 1.5 ton jack would suffice. I think a 2 ton jack would be ideal for me. This way, I know it will be able to safely lift two wheels off the ground with ease.

Hey
Curb weight for my Jeep Grand Cherokee is 4400 and the G is just over 3400.

That's the one. Red and aluminum. Normally 119 but they had a sale running for 89.99 when I went is 109 or 119 but I said I saw the ad and said it was either 89 or 99 so they matched it! Load is 3,000LBS and I will never be needing to lift the entire car at once! LOL At most, 2 wheels is all you need! Even, then, what are you really lifting like 2,000 pounds tops? For $100, it's a great jack! Easily fits way under my G and if you prefer jacking it up by the frame instead of the pinch welds, it fits all the way to there as well! Nice low profile jack!

Do you have NAPA Auto Parts in the GTA ??
I sourced mine from them and they often have them on sale. They make a low profile one as well. I paid $89 for mine with 2T lift capacity.
