what sort of things did you get into?
Sounds like you had a good session.
I've been wanting to do this for awhile...can't seem to get it together.

It was great...the difference between my first and last track sessions were day and night thanks to my instructor who really helped me break down what I had to do, and then help me bring it all together slowly as the day went on. The last session was fantastic - there was a WRX STi in my run group and both of us were flying (relative to how we started anyway); it wasn't a contest at all, but we were still having a blast with him unable to pull away from me and me unable to pass him. The coolest feeling was that when everything felt slow was when I was driving the fastest - smooth inputs all round with no drama; the feeling you get when you nail a sequence of corners is euphoric but it is a roller coaster ride. After nailing a sequence, you're carrying 10-15kmh more speed into the next corner and then completely mess it up since you're going so much faster than you were before. Very humbling.

I've been a motorsports fan as long as I can remember so I've read so much theory on racing and vehicle dynamics - it was nice to finally have some practical experience as well. It was great to see how different the car behaved as the session went on too - having to continously understand what the brakes and tyres were doing and adjusting your lines accordingly was a fantastic (I'm running out of superlatives) experience.
Another highlight of the day was riding along in this monster.
I really have nothing but good things to say. I hope to see some of you guys out there next session. My car is covered in brakedust and I just don't care.

Wow, great report. I also am a motorsports fan. I've done a small bit of drag racing with cars and motorcycles and snowmobiles but my auto track racing is limited to about a half dozen laps (without instructor) at Atlantic Motorsport Park in my '84 prelude years ago. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to outdrive the car without experience. I can recall that even with a much less powerful car under my foot than the G. AMP has a fine history of many top drivers getting started there in Formula Atlantic. That was a blast and I would love to try it again. I used to do some pit work for a good friend who ran in several GT classes for years with his track only Suzuki car. At that time I was in a club racing electric radio controlled cars too. None of this compares to your recent track experience and you've got me excited to try it out myself.

Sounds like quite a day. I'd be into doing this some time in the summer. I don't know what the G will do, except on a straight a wayyyyyyyyy, and then only until I realize what the ticket would be. Too much of a chicken to push it.
But, in a venue as you describe......... gotta be some adrenaline rush.
Thanks for the Review Balzz.
