Zaino'd my coupe!
Zaino'd my coupe!
It's just a little above freezing these days, and not much warming in my underground parking area so I don't think it's the optimal environment for applying Zaino. Nevertheless, it's only going to get colder here.. the process:
Input: 1 week old coupe, waxed with Meguiar's by the dealer
1) Dawn wash
2) Rinse
3) Dry with 100% cotton towels
4) Clay Bar - I stopped 1/2 way through because it was hardly picking anything up and I was getting lazy
5) Rinse
6) Dry with 100% cotton towels
7) Z5 with ZFX
8) Wait 30 mins
9) Buffed off Z5 with Z6 and cotton towels.
Next day:
10) Applied Z2 with ZFX. It was colder this time, and even after waiting 30 mins, the Z2 was still smearing (yes, I used it sparingly - about 1 oz for the whole car).
So... 24 hours later..
11) Buffed off with Z6 and cotton towels. Much better!!
Output: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291079473
Total work time, about 5 hours. And I did the washing with buckets! No hoses.. my back hurts.

EH ... gorgeous car buddy ,,, great selection..
mine is the exact same .. coming in April.../May
Anyways .. I was hopin you might have some other pics of your ride..possibly in the sun... or other shots really.
Also .. did you have as much trouble deciding between the silver and the DG .. I am still confused but ordered the DG ...
I find it transitions the light showing more color variations of grey as opposed to the silver .. what do you think...
Also what percent and where did you get the tint done.
I live in Toronto.
Again fantastic.. nice to see and hope to see you cruisin
Thanks

Re: Zaino'd my coupe!
Sorry, haven't seen the sun since I bought the car :P I'm at work before it's up and home after it's down. Although it's actually getting light out now while I'm typing this... finally! But's it's far too cold to go out and take pics.. besides, the salt takes away all the shine
Anyway.. enough complaining!
I chose DG because every other car on the road is silver, plus I think the dark grey looks very classy and understated.
Tint is 35% all around and the dealer threw it in for free.. they just had a local shop (Guelph) do it.

Re: Zaino'd my coupe!
Hey TripleQ, Zaino'd mine today. No clay bar, Z-6 b4 and after each of 3 coats of Z-5, and 1 final coat of Z-2. Spent about 8 hrs. tatal in heated garage (15^C). Hard work but at least it'll last 'till Spring.
My gas mileage is still hovering around 22-23 in this weather with 1hr block heating, and garaged. (That's down 2-3 from the Sedan). Still only 600 km. Too lousy to go anywhere.......Later..........

Hey 35bills, Picked up Zaino at Crown Auto Emporium Ltd.
downtown Guelph on Eramosa Rd. Check out the website at www.zaino.ca for all details and prices. He said there's another place on the East side of TO somewhere too.

Hey 35Bills,
You can get it at a place called REV located at McCowan and Hwy.7 across Markville Mall on the Canadian Tire side. I forgot the exact street name but can get you the exact location if needed. You can also ask Paintballbitch for location directions and tel. number since it's one of his buddies.

It's still a G thang!!
