Dixie-401 service?

anyone take their car here? i just dropped mine off this morning for the 3 month service. i also asked them to look at some other problems i have. i mentioned my screwy stereo, my ashtray sticking up sometimes, my seat shifting a bit when braking/accelerating hard, and also threw in the whining noise i was getting in the winter on cold start (just for the hell of it). they guy answers back to me with "have u taken your car back to the place u bought it?" i was like what does it matter where i take the car for service. seemed like he was giving me a lot of attitude for no apparant reason. i was in there at about 7:30 and there were a bunch of people waiting behind me (this service rep, mike, was the only one there). i basically told him that his dealership was the closest and most convenient for me... i also told him that if his sales guys gave me a decent price on the car in the first place then the car would have originally came from them. overall, i wasn't to impressed with this place... and his attitude just made it worse. i have a strange feeling that nothing is going to be touched on my car when i finally pick it up (typical we could not duplicate the problem line). if that does happen i'll pull his butt out of his seat and show him myself (especially the stereo which is really turning into a pain in the butt lately). just thought i'd vent a little and let u know about the dealership service i received. let me know if anyone else has taken their car there and what their impressions were.

-cheers all.

Sorry I only have experience with my local dealer here in Halifax. I took mine in last week and wanted the sporadic mirror buzz fixed per the TSB amongst a few other niggling things. The service girl at first didn't believe there was a TSB until I showed her the printout I had with me. Fortunately her attitude improved immediately after she saw I knew what I was talking about . When my car was done she told me my car was immaculate and asked what the G35driver.com sticker was for. So when I got home I sent the link to her so they could check out us enthusiasts.
Good luck with getting your problems resolved giddyup. I hope you're feeling better now that you've blown off that steam.

Finally some one experienced Mike's attitude. I was going to them for 2 years. Went through 3 service managers there and then, Mike was hired. Things went down hill from there. He refused to do work for me, forgot to do stuff, and the attitude. Man oh man, I will not go back to them again. He's very arrogant and rude. I remember standing there for 20 mins this one time waiting to be served, he ignored me and pretended to be busy.

I can go on, but I'll stop for now. I've tried Woodchester 2 times already, and it was okay, but charge more for an oil change than 401!! The service has been so so.

I think I'll be taking my car to Yorkville for my next service.

I agree with PDT. Mike has an attitude and always tries to tell you "IT IS NORMAL" for everything he doesn't want to look at.

One time I had noise coming from my rear end and he said it was the sways, I told him it didn't make sense and he got p!ssed, then I put up my hand and told him to chill out and put him in his place. I then took it to Woodchester and it was the hardware in the rear brakes causing the noise.

Another time, they changed my oil and forgot to reattach the plastic shield back on. I was furious and demanded an apology and he tried to tell me I probably hit something on the road. They replaced it after some yelling I did (sort of speak).

That was it for me...I left and never went back.

Go to Woodchester...good guys.

sounds very similar to my experience. just got a call back from him this morning... and just as i had expected. they've tried the stereo and told me that they cannot duplicate the problem. i told him the problem is there and that i could show him personally as i asked this morning (but apparantly was too busy and told not a problem ). he told me that he would replace the stereo but suggested i keep the one i had told me the one i would get would most likely be refurbished. also... can anyone confirm this for me... he was tearing into me saying that they found burned cd's in the unit. he said this is a no-no and could potentially void my warranty. i told him this is utter nonsense as the player is designed to play mp3's... u tell me where i can buy a cd in the store with mp3's on it. he claimed it states in the car's manual about the warning on burned cd's. i don't have the manual with me... it's in my car. can anyone tell me if this is true?? this makes no sense they also told me that they couldn't duplicate my other problems... so no fixey.

Pardon the pun but it sounds you should "giddyup" down to another dealer even though it may not be as convenient. You and others don't seem at all happy with Dixie. A dealer with quality reliable work and answers you can trust are critical to your satisfaction and peace of mind.
Good luck.

I’m not sure if I can do this but here is the 2005 owners manual from the US web site, it looks the same as the Canadian version.

Sorry I's too large, if you register on the US web site you can download it from Infiniti.

thanks boyo... i found a pdf version of it on my computer here it work. the manual says nothing about the warranty being voided. in fact page 4-19 shows cd-r and cd-rw under supported media. i printed the page and went to pick-up my car. i shoved the page right under his nose and told him to update his knowledge on these cars... it felt great! after some husstle and busstle between us i got a new hu ordered and it should be in in about 6-10 days (from what he says). my other problems got nowhere with this guy. once i get the hu replaced this is the last time i go to dixie-401. it just sucks that i have to drive about 30-40 minutes now to get my car serviced. btw... on a lighter note... i went to a gas station located at britannia rd. and meyerside... circled the lot twice and couldn't find a premium pump. i went inside and the guy told me they don't sell it!!! i stood there in disbelief for a few minutes and then left. so just a heads-up to anyone in that area.

i'll update everyone if my stereo is fixed after the new hu is installed as i know this problem has plagued others as well.

I've used burned CD's in all my Infiniti's and no probs. I think he's blowing smoke bro.

Good luck at Woodchester. Seems that's a better place to get work done.

I've also used burned CD's in my car and no problems so far. I've heard if you put labels on the CD, that might be a problem. The labels may lift and get jammed.

I had my Altima leased from Woodchester and stopped going there for service after a couple of bad service experiences. I actually wrote a page long letter to Nissan with my Customer Survey about how they had an "I hate my job" attitude. (The letter however got no response from the dealership or Nissan)

Switched over to Alta Nissan and 100% improvement, service reps even greet you by name. This past April I went directly to Alta Infiniti to lease my G and so far service there has been great. Only been once but will go back and see how they handle my couple of minor issues. Until then, I am holding on to my survey until I get everything 100% to my satisfaction. Sales rep. made it clear that the survey is an important measure on how the dealership is doing.

thanks for letting me know about alta... they're only 1km further from my work then woodchester. i've never even heard of them till u mentioned them in this thread. overall... when i think about the cars i've had in the past... every dealer i've ever gone to has been a disappointment in some way. it's like dealers just do not concentrate on the quality of service. basically u need to rely on the car u purchase to be of a high enough quality where u don't need to get things fixed in the first place. i don't have any major issues with my car... but it would be nice to know that when i pay for something it works the right way from day 1. when a service guy says... well it's only a small nuisance, i don't know what your problem is.... that's what really pisses me off. i find it sad when a $50k car doesn't even have a properly working ash tray. i mean how am i supposed to get my coffee change out ?!

I have a 2004 G35X and so far, knock on wood, have not had any problems. So my experience with dealer service is limited (scheduled oil change etc.) but I've dealt only with Yorkville and have no complaints. My previous car was a Maxima that was always serviced at 401-Dixie Nissan, which I think may be owned by the same person as 401-Dixie Infiniti, and had nothing but excellent service from them. You'd think the service would be consistent between the two dealerships. You should complain to the service manager and if that doesn't work try the owner.
