Got oil change and Bonus, "Check Engine Soon"
Went to a Lube shop and did my 60 000k service. Mobile One Synth. Oil 5w30 as well as Rear Diff. changed to Mobile One synth.
Had the cabin air filter changed and the regular air filter as well.
When I started the G, both the VDC off and the check engine lights were on.
I hit the VDC button and nothing happened, light still on. Called the guy over, showed him. He undid and reconnected the electrical harness that he disconnected when he pulled out the housing to install the air filter. VDC off light went out (one down). He then connected his diagnostic computer and the G showed no problem ( except for the CES light ). Checked the manual, and told me the light should go out after a few driving cycles. If not, I should go to the dealer. Duhhh. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The old saying,Penny wise, pound foolish comes to mind.
Wait, it gets worse.
About tenish I took it out on the HWY to see if there were any strange sounds or hesitation. Didn't notice any so I let the dogs out just seconds before I was about to exit. The man was there and he asked me to pull over for a chat.
Ten dollars a Km adds up reallllllllllllllll fast.
He was a good man, he listened and was kind to me.

I know those CES lights are very sensitive in all vehicles. Three of the past four vehicles I've owned had issues with them. In one case it was temporary after getting a car out of storage and driving 15k it went out on it's own. one other needed a new catalytic converter and another had a faulty fuel injector. Of course those aren't your problems.
The only thing simple thing I can suggest is make sure the fuel cap is on tight. BTW, they didn't add any fuel injector cleaner did they. That's another thing I know can set them off sometimes.
That was good news with the man at least.

They didn't charge for any fuel injector cleaner, but I'll call and ask if they gave me a freebee. Thanks for the thought. Looking forward to meeting you on the 11th.
I've made an appointment with the local Nissan dealer to check it out.

The pedal reset of the ECU is fairly easy and described HERE -- Give it a try, it takes a little practice but is do-able. Be sure to wait 10 seconds between attempts..
Give me a shout if you need any help.
The dealer may charge $100 for resetting with his scan tool, so avoid that.
As far as driving the car until the reset, I would say it's prolly ok.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the ideas. I really liked the reset suggestions and printed them off.
When I got home today I took another look under the hood. I notices a thin red line between the two sections of the air filter housing. So, I took the housing apart, cleaned the inside with a damp clean rag, reinserted the air filter and snuged all parts together before tightening. No red line anymore
( the filter frame was red) and when I started her up, no CES light.
Happy, Happy, Happy. I'd use the icons but they never work for me.
Especially happy because I could cancel the appointment with the dealer. Maybe I'll spend the money on a K&N filter next time they go on sale at Canadian Tire.
Thanks again.
