Guys please save me... I got a speeding ticket in the long weekend when I was driving to N.Y.C. I got nailed going 88mph in a 65 zone. Do I have to pay it?? They don't even tell me how much to pay. They just sent me some cheap *** REALLY poorly photocopies to either plea guilty or set a court date. They were asking for my driving abstract... should I give them? I don't have a problem with paying, but I am more concern with insurance company find out?? Don't think ticket fighter would work in this case... Any of you guys got some experiences to share? Plead NOT GUILTY and set a trial date.

A date of the set trial date will come in the mail (most likely)

Hopefully when you go the cop who has to be there will NOT show up .. and they will drop the charge or IF the cop is there ... then you can either plead guilty ... most likely to a lesser offence or less money and OR argue with them like Matlock .. and have reasons why etc... then they may throw it out or reduce the charge.

I went and the cop didnt show ... no ticket for me.

I got the same thing 2 years ago while going to some stupid mall called Woodbury near NYC. I was really pissed, and even called the phone numbers on the ticket to see what options I had. I ended up paying as there was no freaking way for me to setup a trial date and drive all the way downto NYC again for it. Doesn't make any sense, plus, you might get another ticket on your way to the trial, you never know:P

I am sure you will soon forget about this incident and nobody from the insurance company is gonna ask you anything when your renewal comes.

My wife got a speeding ticket in NY state, and she got a notice of demerit point loss in the mail from Canada. I guess there is some reciprosity between ontario and NY state, so be careful!
