Beware Plastic Wrap
Beware Plastic Wrap
Had an interesting experience this past weekend. I was headed out of Calgary on highway 22X to highway 2 south.
2 vehicles ahead is a garbage truck and as typically happens some stuff falls off the back of the truck and onto the road. Ends up being a piece of about 8' long plastic wrap.
The SUV in front of me goes over ti and I have a split secodn to think dodge or what? So instead of going to the curb and playing with that gravel I center up the car and hope it goes through.
Look in the rear view mirror and nothing comes out. Damn! Well when I get to the golf course I'll dig it out from under the structure where ever it got caught.
Going 130km on highway 2 now and I hear this racket coming from underneath the car? WTF? Pull over to the side of the road thinking I might have lost a rear tire. Nope all tires are fine. I look underneath and see the plastic wrapped nice and tight around the drive shaft.
I pull out my golf clubs, jack up the car, crawl underneath a hot G35 with about 2" of clearance and extract the plastic wrap from the drive shaft. Took me about 15 minutes.
Taking it in to get the service guys to look at tomorrow just to make sure.
Has anyone else gotten plastic sucke dinto their drive shaft? Is this something I am going to have to worry about from now on? LOL I've never seen this in 16 years of driving.

Re: Beware Plastic Wrap
This also happened to a friend of mine on his van. Just have a tech look at it and make sure everything is fine. No real way of preventing something like this, just be carefull.
