Infiniti Service Loaner Program ???

Am I missing something here? When I dropped my car at Alta this morning for service, they took me over to Routes car rental and rented me a Mitsubishi something or other. By the time I got my car checked in, get a ride over to the rental place, do the paperwork and wait for them to clean and wash the rental, almost an hour has gone by.

Not exactly my idea of a convenient method for getting my car serviced. I was expecting a G35 waiting for me to simply jump into and drive away from the dealership.

By definition, shouldn't I be getting an INFINITI LOANER as the programs title implies.

You would think you'd get another G, but not the case. I refused to drive a rental once at 401/Dixie and argued about it until I got another G. They did it out of good faith but said Infiniti does not pay for that, just for the rental.

BMW has the same thing also. They get rentals from Enterprise, but they have it ready for you at the dealership. Just get in and drive away.

I haven't had the need for a loaner yet, but....
I would expect to have a car available w/o shuttles & paper work.

When an infiniti car is available you get it, if you didn't researve one when you booked your service you get a loaner from enterprise or what not, if something is available you get it, always remember that you researve your loaner when you call.

After reading other posts from our USA friends I was expecting a G as a loaner.

This was booked two weeks in advance to ensure a loaner was available. I will ask them when I go back today and find out the exact details of the program, I was just in too much hurry this morning.

After all this trouble, I just got a call from the dealer and the two door scratches they were supposed to fix, they can't because they are too close to the edge, whatever that means.

One scratch was on the car when I got it and I put one on myself. They agreed to repaint the entire pass. rear door at their cost but refuse to even give me a discount on the driver's side door. The estimate was for $400 each side.

same thing happened to me at the Alta Infiniti. eventhough I reserved a loaner car, they said the person who has the loaner(g35) did not bring it on time so they had to rent a car for me. this was all for an oil change which I ended up paying $45 something..and the funny thing is car rental probably costs them at least half of that.

but I think the point is not the infiniti make loaner, it's the idea of not dealing with paperwork with the rental car. you should be able to just sign it out and drive it away..

It is likely that a return failed to materialize and they had no choice. At least you got a car. My business partner has an Audi TT and he gets squat. He sits and waits. I find that when I book ahead, I always get a car. Either a G35 Sedan or an FX 35. Ericksen in Edmonton are top notch.

On two occasions, they had to rent a car for me. Both times, I called ahead and made my appointment and reserved a loaner, and both times, some one never returned the loaner on time. So I got a Impala on time and a Malibu the second time. Man, did that Malibu suck.

My Girlfriend's Dad has a Lexus RX300 and when he needs service, he calls the Lexus Dealership, they come and drop off a loaner car to them the night before and takes the RX300 with them. Once it's done, he just has to go and pick it up. Maybe because they are in Ottawa this is done, but I've never heard of this service before.

Concur with the idea of booking ahead, and also that it's good to get a car, rather than sit or shuttle. I'm always driving from out of town for whatever dealer I'm going to, so it's imperative to have a car.
At 417 in Ottawa, I've had a G35X, a G35 sedan, a maxima (loaded, not bad), and they tried to put me into a j35? (braindead here; was that the recently discontinued maxima twin?). This last POS had a screw with a 10mm head sticking out of the front right tire, that they supposedly had not noticed (drive 10 feet, boys- tough not to notice! I didn't leave the lot). It was necessary for me to speak to the service manager to rectify the situation (no joy from anyone else). Since they were out of loaners, he actually gave me his car, a brand new Altima 3.5SE, complete with sunglasses, cell phone and wallet. He's very nice, and quite knowledgeable and helpful, so I gave his stuff before heading off for the day.
From this I learned: Don't show up at 10 a.m. (even if you're driving from Kingston to Ottawa) and expect to get the pick of the loaners- show up at 7:30 a.m., and you're more likely to get your wish.

Everytime I have needed a service loaner, I have had a car supplied from the dealership. Once it was Nissan Sentra for which they apologized repeatedly. Mostly it has been a G with AT.

I work close to the dealership so they have also driven and picked me up from work for the times my car was in for just a day.
