Stay on Clean Roads

I recently had to replace one of the Michelin Pilot's on the rear left slde. Get this, the cost of one tire was $480. beans. Unfortunately a piece of metal had pierced the tire too close to the side wall which causing it to be unrepairable. So had to replace an almost new tire (5000 km) with a brand new tire. What a waste!

The guys at Steelcase Tires & Mags were really good in getting me a replacement tire at the time I as there, so I didn't have to wait long. This is an OEM tire most shops don't stock and have to order in.

As a word of caution to my fellow G35 drivers, keep your travel's at construction sites and poorly maintained roads to a minimum. Avoid it if you can.

Duhprez,

I had a similar happening a few years ago with another car. A large nail punctured the sidewall of my Yokohama snows so it too couldn't be repaired. It was a rare tire at the time but I was just lucky that the shop had a replacement in stock( Wheels Direct).
As for pricing, I didn't have to pay full price since the tire was still under warranty. The tread depth was measured and an appropriate price was calculated . I think I only had to pay $50 for the replacement if I remember correctly(maybe a little more, I'm not sure)
Did the tire shop give you any reason why the price is so much for a replacement. What about the warranty? You do have one don't you?? Those are premium tires you have.
I think that Michelin should take care of you better than that.

In speaking with a few dealers, there is no road hazard whatsoever on these performance rated tire that's OEM on the coupe. Had to pay full replacement price. But now I have a warranty on the tire that was replaced.

Re: Stay on Clean Roads

I've had good dealings with Steelcase Tires, I'd recommend them.
