coupe snow tires

want to beat the rush and find some snows and wheels for my G35 coupe.

tirerack says that most wheels won't fit because the offset is too great. most wheels are 40mm where the coupe is 30mm.

makes me a bit afraid to order from talon, just in case i get them and the don't fit.

so what have others done for winter tires?????

Re: coupe snow tires

I've got Enkei CDR-9's (17") wrapped in 225/55/17 Yokohama AVS winter snows, (all round). Interestingly my wheels are 40mm offset which the dealer said would work fine. And they do.
The tires perform well in the snow/ice, wet, and dry, and not loud.
I've attached a pic.

Re: coupe snow tires

gsedanman & gordgee, how much did u guys pay for those rim+tires? I'm looking for snow tires too but i don't have big budget, probably around $1000 if possible, or the lower the better....(as long as it's not those black crappy one that looks like the spare tires) I got a Coupe with performance, any suggestion and where to get it in GTA?

Re: coupe snow tires

If you go with 16" wheels, they'll be quite a bit less expensive, but they may not clear your brake calipers. The higher profile tire is better in snow and ruts as well. If you have Brembos, I think you need 17s like GSM has.

BigH,

This would be a perfect groupbuy/grand opening special .... I'm sure all of us canucks will be in need of a winter wheel/tire combo for the upcoming winter ...! Personally I prefer Blizzaks .... but hey if you could ever arrange anything please post up!

Re: coupe snow tires

I'd be interested too folks. May I suggest that the most universally acceptable coupe size would be the stock 17" set-up (235/50-17, 225/50-17), so as to fit around calipers and not mess with the VDC, which I understand to be very sensitive to differences in rolling circumferences. Also, if we go to 18's, the cost goes up in most cases. My vote is for pilot alpins- I have them on my Accord V6 and am impressed. That said, strength in numbers is more important, so either way...
