Got into an accident..
no one was hurt, but the cops filed a report saying
that i am at fault.. haven't got a chance to report
to my insurance yet..

but does anyone of you have experience on this?
do i get a lawyer? i mean to make sure i dont get charged
at 100% at fault.. otherwise my insurance premium will ...be sky high

do i even get a chance to argue with my insurance company?
Please help me......

Godmans--
Sorry to hear that man; It's good that no-one was injured.

I'd suggest a visit to someone like POINTTS first to discuss action. Consultation with them is free, and they'll only charge you if you hire them to represent you.
They will know best if they can handle (and win/reduce) a reversal of such a charge and your chances of success, or they will recommend legal representation for you directly from a lawyer.

You don't want that charge on your record, it could be very expensive short term, and even more expensive long term with insurance.

POINTTS will ask for all details, along with a list of witnesses.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes please.

Thank you for the advises guys..
I believe i would find a ticket fighter or a lawyer
to help me with the ticket..
However, i do have to report to Insurance too of the accident..
my question indeed is: should i report it myself?
or have someone like the lawyer to report it for me?
because i am not sure what determines who is at fault
the cop report?
my report?
or the two parties' insurance companies' conclusion?

Thank you for the help...

Godmans

You have to report the accident to the insurance company yourself. They need to know about it so they can get an adjuster to go see the car and authorize the repairs at the bodyshop. If you don't have a bodyshop arranged to do the repairs they might recommend one in your area.

They will ask you for the police report number, officer's name, badge, and division number. They will also ask you if anyone was charged or injured and how the accident happened.

This does not mean you are immediately at fault, 'cause it is just a charge NOT A CONVICTION. Make sure you tell them you will be going to court to fight the charge and you completely disagree with it. They will ask you to describe what happened, so you gotta make sure you do not admit guilt or wrong doing.

Your insurance premiums and record are not affected UNTIL there is a conviction and any increases take effect until the NEXT renewal date of your policy is.

As for the traffic ticket, get someone to represent you that is reputable like POINTS (like Colin suggested).

Good luck.

Godmans,
Chico makes a good point that you must report the accident ASAP. no delays... The longer you wait, the less they will like it. Do it today if you haven't already.

As far as liability is concerned......being charged isn't the same as being convicted, so don't worry about that. Just give the insurance agent the info they need and explain that your lawyer/representative is looking after you interests.

I've found that POINTTS is very good, guarantee their work, and will even advise whether a lawyer is needed initially or not.
There are others that you might know about and prefer like ticket-busters and the like.

Best of luck man, and like I said b4, keep us in the loop ........

Colin.
