I'm due for an oil change and haven't had time to book an appointment with the dealership, so I was thinking one day after work I would go to one of the Oil Change shops. I've used Mr. Lube before, but was wondering if anyone has tried Jiffy Lube? There is one right by my place, and was thinking to try them, but wanted to get opinions from others first.

sigh.. this is sad but true. i had friends that use to work for places like jiffy lube and greasemonkey... they would tell me how they use to **** around or do half *** jobs on oil changes. they were in high school at the time O.o

for example, they'll change the oil but not the filter.
or they'll give your reg instead of syn.

so based on those true stories, i rather not.

That's a hard one to call, Tauseef. Some have had good luck with them (myself included, not the G or M tho.) and some don't like them at all -- as dkhuynh says.
If I were you I'd stick with the dealership. They are the most familiar with our rides, and you don't want to take any chances with your fine ride.

Nah, not all oil changers are bad.

I took mine to Mr.Lube and Oil Changers before.. they do it infront of you.. so you can see what they are doing.

 

If you don't want to use a dealer for the simple stuff...
Then I would recommend finding a small local shop (get recommendations)
& build a relationship with them

JMHO.. I'm not comfortable with Jiffy et al

 

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've had some great experiences with Mr. Lube before. Seeing that I swore to myself that I will not go to 401 Dixie or Woodchester anymore, I'll see if I can get an appointment with Oakville Infiniti this weekend.

I wasn't sure about Jiffy Lube, because when I pass by their location from the GO station, they were always empty!!

dkhuynh, it's too COLD right now to do my own oil changes!

 

I go to the local Mr. Lube for oil changes, and they always do a great job. In and out in 20 minutes.

 

I use Jiffy Lube for the G, just for simple oil changes all the time. They are one of my companies clients. They are always good, I get out and watch, chat with them the whole time. Most of the guys working their are young guys that are car nuts like us and they are pumped to get a "cool" car.

So these quick service places are okay with the shield? They know how to take it off?

I don't want to pay $100 for an oil change at the dealer. I'm really thinking about just doing it myself.

 

One of the local Nissan dealers charges the same for the G35 as other Nissans. With the frequent coupons they provide, they do the change with a genuine Nissan filter for $26 to $29 CDN!

In fact, the service advisor used to work at Infiniti, and many owners have switched to West End Nissan (Edmonton) for all non-warranty work!

 

For my other cars I just go to an oil changers to get it done. I have never had a problem and they let me go down in the well to check the drain plug and oil filter. For my G I do it myself but only because they wanted an extra $12 to drop the engine cover.
