Thinking about letting the G Go

Well after a very short time with the G, less than a year I am thinking about give up my G. The only real reason is that my girlfriend does not want to drive the g, it intimidates her (anyone else with a similar issue?). I posted a Lease take over thread in Canadian Market Place Section for those that might be interested. More details are in that post.

That's too bad bro....
It must be tough to let it go.

I do understand though, especially if most of the driving is in the city.
In almost 2 yrs my wife has never been behind the wheel of my G,
but it's a little different....she has her own car.

Jvwilson, That's too bad, man.....wouldn't she gradually adjust to the G and then enjoy the ride like you do? Perhaps a little tutoring or more 'seat time' would help her get better aquainted with it.
How about another ride for her more to her liking?
You do what you have to do.....but I'm sure you'll miss the G, and we really don't want to lose you.

Best of luck with your decisions,
Colin

I have a different problem...my wife wants to drive my G all the time, eventhough she has her own car...and now that she saw the '07 coupe, she's more psyched about it than me and wants a 6MT. Hopefully she'll be happy enough with the Sedan and won't bother me when the new car arrives.

Good luck with the sale!

Well I will truly miss the G (and who knows maybe no one will want it and I will just keep it . I love everything about it, makes me smile every time I go down to the garage and take her out (the car I mean). Just can not justify having two vehicles as we both live and work right downtown. The G hardly makes it out during the week as is.

Get rid of the girl not the G J/K, but seriously if YOU really love the car and YOU don't want to give it up...are you going to resent her for pushing you into something you don't want to do down the road, honestly? Just a thought. I had a similar situation several years back, she was gone within 6 months and so was my car. Good Luck.

I'm curious as to what is intimidating on the G? Help with getting a woman's perspective.

JV, I must agree with Collin, My wife was like that as well, until my brother got me falling down drunk in TO one night and she had to drive back to Kitchener. It took the full 100k drive for her to get comforable. Needless to say she was very impressed. Sign up for a driving course with the G so she can get comfortable.
Now it takes forever to re-adjust the seat after she's been in it. Can't win.
I still smile when I get in, just feel so fine. Had the moon roof open all day, nice.
As ScottR said, how serious are you about the GF? LOL.
In the G's case, familiarity breeds appreciation.

Shinanigans, is that Irish?
Well Collin, I was tricked. Before, durring and after dinner my Bro. poured ( heavily) Vodka with a splash of cranburry into a glass of crushed ice. In his defence, he was the designated driver ( for the evening as we were headed to the theatre downtown ) and assumed I could carry a double load. I knwe I wus in truble as we wer goin down the don valy and my head was spinning faster than the rear wheels.
The result was we turned around and missed Les Miz.
Both of our wives were quite miffed but not at me. LOL They saw me as the victim of an over zealous bartender. I thought it was mostly cranberry.
Like getting caught doing 60 over and the cop gives you a ticket for 15 over. You know you're guilty and quite happy with the break you caught.

Eeeesh!!! What a predicament!! You are in. My suggestion would be to let the GF go gently so that way she doesn't know she doesn't compare to the gorgeous G that puts out everytime you drive it providing same fun and statisfaction of riding something so sweeet. Besides there is probably other women that can handle your stick (eermm.... I meant the M6) better then the current one.

Also keep your insurance up, just incase she decides to take vengence on the innocent.

I think she gets intimidated by the whole 6spd thing, she had never driven one before, as well as the car's power. I think the combo is to much for her. She is not forcing me to do anything, she is more than content to be driven around, this is just as much for me as her. We have been together for a long time and own a house together so it is a little bit more than just throwing her to the curb for the G ride.

Good luck with the sale, but my girlfriend loves to drive mine. It's funny, when I went on a business trip across Canada for a week and half, she was soley driving my car and didn't want to give it back to me when I returned!!
