I kind of understand where you are coming from, my Wife is also a little intimidated by the G she had never drivin a RWD car before and she thinks she will lose control of the car one day despite the VDC. On the other hand she is very understanding towards my love of the car and the fact that I don't like auto even though it is more practical than manual for her. Because I work an hour from home I drive a VW Golf TDI every day and she drives the G around town so she spends alot more time during the week in the G than I do yet she likes to see me happy. Mabye you could show this little story to your Girl and say "see his wife doesn't complain"

Somtimes it not what you say, but how you say it, eh Colin.
The story about a man's diamonds might be of interest to your GF.
I tried a short search, no go. Anyone remember where it was posted?

I have the opposite problem...the biggest reason the gf actually encouraged me to buy the RX7 was so she could drive the G more.

I brought my wife kicking ans screaming out to drive the G. She hates standards. She drove it about a block and that was it. No appreciation for a fine automobile whatsoever.

An old girlfreind guilted me into an automatic once and after we split, I had many regrets. I then swore my next car was without a doubt going to be a 6sp.

Many years ago my wife learned to drive in a 4sp Dodge Colt. She now drives a 7 passenger minivan most of the week and misses the manual shift. Every so often she takes the G to run a few errands... she always has a smile when she pulls out of the driveway and revs the engine as she takes off.

She was intimidated at first but she is now quite comfortable with the handling and safety features such as ABS and VDC.
