HKS/UPS/shipping charges

Well, the HKS came today. The big concern was shipping, or more specifically, duty, tax and brokerage fees. THe shipper was shipping UPS since oversized items can't be taken by USPS, so there was a concern. By my calculations from the UPS site and talking to customs, this could have come out to $400+ in COD charges.

Anyway, as mentioned UPS delivered the exhaust this morning and the COD charges? $52 Cdn. How sweet is that?

Can't wait to get this thing on.

It's most likely you will receive another bill for the duty and taxes. It is surprising UPS did not collect those at the same time which is the normal practice. I hope you don't have to pay but my experience you will, just a little later.

I think I did pay. Duty is on the bill.

They listed each box valued at $30US - so $60 in total.

The tips are huge.

Congrats bro. HKS is the best exhaust for the coupe IMO. I have a sound bite if anyone wants to hear it.

Sweet. What I like to know is who did you order the exhaust from so that we should be using them as well to cut down on brokerage costs?

Qualified Japanese Parts - off Ebay.

Ordered last Wednesday and got it today. Not bad considering it's coming from the US.

You should contact them. That's pretty low. They probably have a corporate account with UPS. They tend to actually make money when using UPS, since what you pay is more than what they pay due to corporate discounts.

I 'phoned UPS for clarification, and they explained that about half of that charge was GST/PST, and the other half was brokerage. (charges based on about $200 value).

So Colin,......... does that make you feel better? I don't see any smiles yet.
I checked out what an EQUUS CODE READER was and, it made me smile.
Let us know what it says.

Na, didn't ruin my day......no biggie really.

The reader is good when you have a MIL staring at you when you drive. Hate when that happens.....That does ruin my day.... , so now the reader can give me a hint as to what the issue is and allow me to turn the dang light off if I want.
Haven't had any lights, but if and when I do, I'm prepared.

This particular reader (the 3110) is compatible with the newer computer settups with C.A.N. : (Controlled Area Networking)....which I found on the new Civic.
Haven't tried the M yet with the older version reader, but I suspect that it is the same and needs the updated reader.

I love toys...

Colin
