06 NAVI problem...

ok ... so anybody with an 06 G35 w/ navi ....

so how come it doesnt show common street names for major streets on the map, but instead shows official provincial numbers which nobody uses anyway? For example... instead of yonge street, the map shows its provincial route number in place of the street name. It doesnt say the common name of the street, ie "Yonge Street" until you're actually driving along it. So since the common names are on the dvd, how do we get them to be visible on the map without having to physically drive along that street? Is there an easy fix, a setting im missing, or something?

The only other reason I can think of is that some streets have a multitude of names and would be misleading to name it just one.
Here in Cambridge we have a street which is Regional road 75 between Cambridge and Paris that has about 6 different names. They call it #75 to save confusion. Crazy having so many names tho.

Yet another that runs thru the middle of Cambridge called hwy 97 which as many different names as it winds its way thru town.

I haven't checked the M's navi for a comparison. Next time I have her out, I'll look for street names and see if it's any diff.

Hey thanks, i tried giving them a call but they were closed at the moment ... no problem tho, im trying again tomorrow noontime.

Thanks again man, I'm pretty sure this will be the fix i was looking for.

I've also noticed btw that it doesnt show highway names (unless manually selected via joystick or unless already driving along it).... i have a feeling that its considering the major roads somewhat highway-ish and is hiding their common names as well. I think they're both connected.

Either way i'll have an answer tomorrow. Thanks again Colin

N/P man....yeah I forgot to say they're on business hrs. Monday to Friday, and don't forget they're 3 hours behind us, so I doubt their office will open until about noon time here.

G/L and be sure and post what you find out.
