Used G Warranty Question

Hey everyone,

I just picked up an 03 G M6. The car is amazing, and blows the doors off my old car. I really love it.

I bought the car from a new car dealership, but not an Infinity dealership. They assured me the warranty was valid, which is awesome because I still have over a year of bumper to bumper. However, I'm concerned because the car didn't come with the service records and the dealership says they don't have any, but that I don't need them and shouldn't worry.

What do you think? Do I need the service history? Or am I still ok?

Any advice on this is appreciated. My old car was... old, so I haven't really worried about warranties before.

Congrats insz on the new ride
There should be a number in one of the books that come with the car that you can call to check on the car warranty, and expirarion date and if all factory recalls have been done. Just have the cars VIN number ready to give them. I did this with a used Maxima a few years ago.
Another alternative is to go into an Infiniti Dealership and give them the number so they can check it out for you.

Thanks for the quick reply GEE35X. I'm going to go out to the car right now to find that number.

Do they track your service history for this, or just based on when the car was made/sold?

I was planning on taking it to Agincourt Infiniti today to talk to them about it and to get an inspection of the car. They said that the safety certification the dealership got should cover off everything. Is there anything you or anyone else would recommend I do? Aside from the warranty check?

I got the number from my Warranty Information book.
It is 1-800-361-4792
The book also says you should notify them that you are a new owner of the car. You can do that via a form in the warranty information booklet that comes with the car, or by phoning the above number.
Like I said earlier, you can probably do this and get the warranty checked at the Dealers when you go there. If the car was serviced at an Infiniti Dealers they can track that also.
Have fun with your new car .
Wayne

Any idea how much the dealership will charge for an inspection?

I'm in the same boat as you.. bought mine used and want to perform a final check up before the warranty expires next year.

Thanks again GEE35X. I just finished going through the warranty manual. I'll see what they say tonight after I go to the dealer.

urabus, when I called, they quoted me $90 for a cert/safety - don't know if this is really what you or I were looking for. I'm guessing you want more of a 300+ point inspection - unless all that's covered. If I get any more usefull info from the dealership this eve, I'll let you know.

GEE35X is correct about the VIN number being a link to your service records, however any service done at a non-Nissan/Infiniti dealer is not in their system.

An inspection is always good... better if the seller will let you do it before purchasing.

How many km's on the odometer? The brake warranty on the sedan was extended to 60,000km or 3years whichever comes first.

Be sure that all the TSB's have been done... and now the fuel filler safety recall is out there.

53k and 2 yrs 9.5 months old. Didn't even know the brakes were under warranty.

I went through the manual for the maint schedule, and it's really only oil changes that should have been done up to now, so I'm hoping the previous owner had them done at Infinity dealerships to make my life easier.

That is why I specifically said "sedan" in my post. The 2003 (.5) 6MT Sedan did not come with Brembos, not even as an option.

You're right. I just misread your original post about the warranty.

I went to the Agincourt Infinity dealership last night. They didn't have any svc records and can't check other dealerships, but the service rep there was nice, said they'd be glad to do warranty work on my car, and that it was due for the fuel line replacement.

He even went as far as to look up where the car was orignally sold, and suggested I go there in the next step of my quest. Sadly, you can't just call the dealership and have them send you the details, because of privacy concerns. I'm hoping if I call them and explain my situation, they can atleast check, and if there are records, they can let me know it's worth it to come in.
