buying a tv from states

Hey guys,
I'm not sure if u guys seen my previous post but here it goes. My dad wants to buy this tv, its http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...th=32050n45260

In best buy they have it for the same price, and so does 2001 audio video and other video stores i looked. The best price i found was stores in States. Such as
http://www.drplasma.com/dr/cartid112.../itemdesc.html

http://www.plasmabay.com/plasma/prod..._Y_pidshff3456

I need to know how much will i be paying on duty and other crap when its getting shipping here from the border.

Thanks guys,
Manbir

if those are the us prices that u are getting... they your better off buying it in the states and having it brought up. but make sure they ship to canada. many electronic manufacturers for high end stuff won't. for example... the suppliers u listed do not ship to canada. check their shipping policies. u can use this link to calculate some of your duties/taxes. brokerage fee's are not included.

I think you're going to be SOL if any warranty work is required for a TV purchased in the US, but brought into Canada.

IMO, it's not worth the risk.

Basically 15% for tax and duty is a guess really. Depends where it was made. Also depends what curior you use.

If UPS I'd say 6% duty as well.

Best to use FedEx if possible or use UPS Air. UPS air would probably be around the same as UPS ground and you get it next day.

You should search TV forums like www.digitalhomecanada.com.

I just got a Sony KFE5010A with stand from Sears with a promotion going on for about $2,489.

A buddy got the same tv at BestBuy for $2,200. Don't be afraid to negotiate with Best Buy and FS. You can find out what others have paid in some forums.

As for buying in the US, buyer beware...check merchant reviews (another search) to see if these guys are ok to buy from. The price seems way to low to believe. When I did research on buying my Digital SLR, I found the cheapest places didn't include the entire package. You ended up having to buy the battery, charger, etc...so there's no deal there.

Anyways, good choice on TV.
