Angry my baby got HIT!

~4:15pm...
coming home from work...
401 eastbound... i'm in the far right lane just before the eglinton exit...
traffic gets all crazy and comes to a complete stop...
i slow down and almost come to a complete stop myself...
look in my rearview....
oh oh... that car is not slowing down....
noooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOO!

boom

"blippity blip blip blip" <- in my head...
pull over...
my bumper is all mashed up and warped. (later i found out that there's also some sort of clicking noise coming from the rear as well... hope it's nothing serious).

guy was a total *****... barely spoke english and didn't want to share any info.... i was seconds away at declaring jihad on his ***, before he finally shared his driver's license and pink slip. i was so pissed... still am.

guy kept acting like no big deal... he didn't even have any damage on his car except for a bent plate.

well.... reported it at a collision centre and contacted my insurance. adjuster will get back to me next week. i'm really hoping they pin this crap on this idiot and my insurance is untouched. i'm thinking the bumper will have to be replaced and painted.... so whatever that costs.

*sigh* only thing to do now is eat some popcorn and wait it out.
i'm also getting my new (used) motorbike tomorrow. if insurance screws me on this one... i'm assuming any bike insurance i get will also be inflated. damn.

just had to vent guys... have a great weekend and watch out for those ******! YARGH!

I don't know how you folks who have been rear ended keep yourself from losing it completely with the other driver.

Sorry to hear about your accident Giddyup. Some people just can't drive and don't give a damn about other people and their things.

Sorry to hear that, Giddyup.....On that hwy, it's happening all the time.....Thankfully he didn't hit you harder....could have been much worse.

You're p'd right now man, and understandably, but when she's fixed it up again, you'll feel a whole lot better.

I don't see how you can be screwed by insurance. From where I'm sitting, it's cut and dried: a rear ender has to be 100% his fault.

G/L with repairs
Colin

I didn't see it in the original post - did you confirm the other driver has insurance?

Like some of the others have said...you're not at fault. You should go to a collision reporting centre and file a report. That's one thing your insurance company will ask you for on Monday.

I would say in the report that you were moving slowly along with traffic when he hit you. I wouldn't say that you suddenly stopped and he hit you.

Sorry to hear. I have had this happen THREE times since I bought my car. Fortunately each time I just had insurance cover a new bumper and repaint...no impact at all since they gave me a loaner car too.

He will be 100% at fault no doubt. One word of advice, DO NOT try and have this repaired. The rear bumper is too flat and will show any imperfections from the repair (learned the hard way).

Good luck and don't worry too much. See if you can settle cash outside of insurance. I did that on the last time it happened and ended up being able to afford some additional mods with a new bumper

yeah he had insurance. i reported that i was slowing down to a complete stop when i got hit . also... i first asked the guy what he wanted to do... aka... let's try and settle this out of the insurance courts... he offered me 200$ cash i told him to shove it up his errrr... u know. definitely will be replacing the bumper. plastic is too hard to fix and it's especially cracked right above the license plate. oh well... will be interesting to see what the adjuster says on monday. my new bike is supposed to be delivered shortly.. will post some pics. after that it's off to the body shop to get an estimate..
