Anyone Installed an aftermarket LSD ??

Hi guys....
I'm in the process of aquiring that components for a pumpkin swap.

Going to change my 3.3 fd open pumpkin for a 3.5 fd with a Quaife LSD.
Has anyone had this type of work done in the GTA?

Looking for a shop that knows what they're doing.
Any recommendations appreciated.

Ian is that viscous or a true posi (clutch type) LSD? If it is a posi then I'm jealous. I've been wanting one of those for more than a year now.

To answer your question though, I don't know of any shops off hand that do that kind of work but I'm sure they are out there. I don't imagine that the diffs are that much different than any other car.

Well...neither really.

It's helical gear driven, similar to Torsen.

That sounds awesome. Let me know how you like it after you get it installed. I want to know if it outperforms the stock VLSD in the coupe.

Nice Ian.

Must mean the '04 will be in the family for a few more months.

Are there any other considerations with electronics/braking etc or are they non factors?

Yes it will..
I think I posted somewhere.... going to hang onto this baby.
Wasn't impressed enough with other products to do anything now.

There's going to be so much happening in the next 2 or 3 years,
I think I'll play in this sandbox a while longer

I also have a few other things in the works,
stay tuned could be interesting. ........ (no, not FI)

Pretty much a straight swap.
I found a 3.5 pumpkin out of a base 6MT 350Z.
They're an open diff. which works well for swapping in the Quaife unit.

I can do the re & re of the diff, but I need to find someone good to do the Quaife retrofit.

I've heard of guys swapping in aftermarket 3.9 final drive that loose cruise control.
No such issue with OEM 3.5.

you would still lose cruise control even with 3.53 FD.
at least from what I heard from people going from 3.3 to 3.5FD

Not what I heard.
I know of one that didn't reinstall the sensor properly...

I guess I'll find out.
Either way I never use it anyway.

This is the same conclusion I arrived at when I considered selling my G35 coupe this spring. It's good to see that I'm not the only one thinking the same way, at this point in time.

We should compare "to do lists"

LOL... I somehow don't think we'll be alone with this conclusion

Great find bro. What other parts are needed to complete the job? It looks very interesting.

It's a direct retrofit for any open diff, w/o vlsd.
Can also be done on a vlsd diff, but requires new stub axles.

They recommend installing new side bearings,
since they can be damaged removing them from the OEM diff.

Other than that, it's labour.

I'll do the pumpkin re & re myself;
just need to get someone to install the Quaife in the pumpkin.

you've done the testing and research so I'm inclined to believe you on the competition. That is pretty much my impression too with what I've been reading.
The diff change should be a neat noticeable change both performance and traction wise.
My vlsd works somewhat. The right wheel seems to spin more easily though on harder launches.

I'll be watching closely for your other mod......
