I'm still trying to figure out if I can swing some BBS 18s for my 05 so that I can hook up some Neovas.

Derek, did you ever try the Neovas? I remembeer you were excited about those and the PSs were second choice.

^ I've got 16k on mine and the rears are pretty well on the wear bars. Passed the safety a few days ago though. Darn rims are too small on these cars causing premature centre wear using the recommended pressures.

The fronts have a ways to go yet (other than the feathered edges now on the outsides) so not sure there.

Going to the track this coming weekend so that may take the eqivalent of a few kms out of them.

 

Totaly agree with you on the Michelins Derek....
I'm into my 2nd season on my PS2s and am blown away by these tires.
Handling wet or dry is fantastic.
Turn in is very precise & in fast long benders the car is so much more predictable.

Over the years I've run maaaany makes & models.
These will be the first tire that I'd buy again.

I know there is. This is the first car in my life I've spent anything on modding so I'm struggling with the stuff I've done and a few more small things planned. Thousands more for wheels.....ughhhhhhhh

Deane, you have 18's right? I posted this before a long time ago, but between me and a Nissan mechanic (a serious, sponsored racer himself) in Kingston, we came up with 34 in front, 33 in back as being best for the 18s with PSs. Totally even wear, notwitstanding some feathers in front. Minor feathering is entirely normal, and is a product of the toe-in used by most mfgs today to get rock solid turn-in and reduce tramlining on bad highways.

Track time will of course exacerbate the feathering (how's that for understatement )

I'm running 34 in the rear and 35 in the front. I've got at least 5k left on the rear shoulders but the centres are near done. The feathering I had was beyond normal to me. I spent a lot of time researching this here and at my350Z. Dealer blamed on not getting an alignment at 6k km. I went to 12k km but should have been paying more attention to it myself; however my car had been in for service at least 5-6 times between 6-12 for other issues and no one noticed. It was me that picked it up when it was on the hoist one day doing the alignment. They flipped the tires for me then so it's now the outside shoulders that are now very tired! No issues that I notice in the last 3k km but I did have another alignment 1k ago along with new springs, shocks, sways etc.

I'm sure track time will now doubt finish off the insides to match the well worn outsides .

 

Not in the financial plan, unfortunately. I was hoping to see some 19" fits added to the Advan list, but I can't bite into tires and wheels, plus tires for the X, plus winter tires for the X potentially, plus...
So I'll "settle" for a set of PS2s as the less costly route, and "live with" the 19s.
My buddy did slaps some neovas on a Cooper S, and was absolutely blown away. It's not hype- the neova is the high watermark in tires today.

On a sidenote, one of the posters pointed out the error of my ways- that is to say that the info in the literature from Infiniti about our cars is wrong. It lists all four wheels as being 8" wide. The rears (at least the 19s) are 8.5", allowing a wider rear fit than stock. For you 18" owners, I'd get out the tape and check- if the rears are wider than the fronts, then there is a Neova fit that will do nicely on 18s.

fwiw I wanted PS2's but decided to go out on a limb and try Yokohama Advan sports. I love those tires. They're quiet and sicky. That's not a combination that you get all the time when it comes to summer tires. And with all the rain we had this weekend I can say that they are awsome in the wet. And there was a lot of standing water on the highway on saturday.

PS2's are an awsome tire but I've always wanted advan's but they never came in our size. The advan sports are a pretty new tire and there weren't even any reviews on tire rack when I purchased them. But my gamble paid off.

 

I'm wanting to check those babies out myself, as well. Since I get my Michelins inexpensively, this set will be the PS2s, but my I'm thinking that my following will be ADVANs. Yokohama is really leading the way right now in performance tires- good to see Michelin, Bridgestone and Goodyear being challenged.

Track time will kill the outsides even more.

 

They're dead but not yet buried.

I'm just a slow old fart anyhow so I'l be taking it easy on them.

 

I've driven enough KMs on my new RE050A Pole Positions on the stock 18s I'm happy with the amount of grip the tires provide. There is definitely much more ultimate stick than the stock PS's.

I am, however, dissappointed with the lack of road feel and communication coming from the tires. The steering now also feels numbed down and I ithink i've lost a little of that 'precision' feel that came with the stock PS's.

I'm happy with the road noise levels, although travelling over highway bumps produces a hollow ticking noise, rather than a 'thump thump' noise that I was used to.

I'm am super impressed with the wet weather traction with these Bridgestones. I couldn't believe how well they peform in the wet. Its nothing short of amazing in the wet.

Next set of tires I will definitely get a set of the Michelin PS2's when I figure out which sizes will be the best for the stock 18's. Currently, there are no PS2's that will fit the stock setup. Anybody out there have recommended sizes?

 

I'm looking too but I don't think there is an option.

 

Just got new Bridgestone g-force TA KDW2's for around $ 1,600.00. I think the new PS2's are a fair bit more. This car eats tires so I didn't feel the urge to splurge.
