Since I'm trying to keep costs down and only looking to get better high's from the system, I'm replacing stock speakers with Infinity Kappa series. 60.7cs, 63.7i, 693.7i
Never worked with fiberglass. Why do you ask?

There's a guy on here that made a completely new shifter trim piece... the piece that goes around the shifter and up around (including) the ash tray. If you were to do something like this, you could probably fit the screen inside the cavity behind the shifter. Although I don't know if there would be enough room for the screen to come out and flip up.

Hmmm thats a good idea. I'll have to do some more measurements to see what kind of fitment that will offer. Like yourself I dont think there will be enough room for a flip-up screen, but its another idea. Hmmm maybe if it has enough room to flip out with the shifter in fourth or something like that I'll consider this option. I only plan on opening and closing it while parked anyway so it wouldn't be much of an inconvenience.
Thanks for the tip, that idea never crossed my mind.... i like the way you think.

OK! After seeing a few of G352NV's threads I've finally decided exactly what I'm going to do. In one of his threads he shows pictures of his custom install of a XBox located behind the ashtray area with custom cut outs for the tray load, power button, etc. It looks really nice. After doing a few measurements during my lunch break I've concluded that with the xenarc housing its a very tight fit, but it WILL fit in that location..... without the housing there shouldn't be any fitment issues at all.
I'm going to run up to the dealership sometime this week to see how much an extra shifter/ashtray trim piece will cost. That way if I make any errors cutting I'll still be ok.
Only minor issue I saw with this idea is that the bottom of the screen will sit just a hair below where the trim starts to curve, but after seeing some bondo work another g35 owner did on his DD kit and the work that G352NV has done I think I (or someone more skilled in stuff like that) can create a nice molded and oem look.

Other question I have is, is it possible to replace the stock navi screen with a 7" touchscreen and still be able to utilize the stock sliding mount?
My plans are to install a mac mini in my G35 coupe. Since I already have (and want to keep) my stock navi, i was wondering if it would be better to just get a DD conversion and install a touchscreen there. In this scenario I would need to run the audio output directly from the mini to the bose amp. If this isnt possible I was wondering if I could just replace the stock navi screen with a lilliput or xenarc 7" screen and somehow retro fit it. In which case I'd just send the audio from the mini to the bose HU.
TIA for any recommendations or answers.

It is possible to put a touchscreen in the stock nav screen location, ive done it, it however is a big pain in the ***, there is alot of dremeling involved, ive cracked 2 touchscreens in the process, and i now know how to put it in, I've just been reluctant to do it.
And for using the bose amp, i just got the pac-audio that has the dual RCA inputs for the SAT radio and i switch over to sat radio to hear my computer.

Yea I've gotten all the plans worked out already. I have the stock NAV so I dont have plans for replacing it with an aftermarket touchscreen.
