Whats the status with (God_of_CPU)

Hey Guys

I was wondering if a package was ever made including everything that was shown in the Car PC demo movie clip. I have been craving that setup ever since I saw the demo video and havent seen or heard of any updates. I dont know much at all about car computers in general but has the software been released yet? I have a 03 Coupe if that matters. Thanks in advance for the response.

i'm a beta tester and not sure what I'm allowed to disclose. But in my opinion, this thing is hands down the best GUI i've *ever* seen - and i've tried frodo, centrafuse, roadrunner, mediaengine - and never stuck with anyone very long (my requirements are basically GPS, MP3 library, and XM sat radio).

You're gonna love it!

I FU**ING HATE YOU!!!! I was just FINE with Centrafuse, I wasn't *waiting* for anything new to come out... everything was a'okay in amthar land. Then you drop this bomb... and now I'm going to be waking up every day anxiously running to the PC to see if this new god-sent GUI will be available. you suck.

Ha ha - when I saw that video of it in action, i knew I had to try to be a beta tester (even though I have no time to spare) cause I couldn't wait for it to come out. It's just sooo... cool! Anyway, the wait will be worth it - I'm flogging it to find each and every little bug and nitpicking about every detail...

(not that I really care about you guys, but I want it to be perfect for me! j/k)

It was taken down for legal reasons... We should finally have a full release complete with hardware soon though, almost certainly before christmas.

Is the software going to require any type of special video card? I was originally going to build a pc from scratch, but i have a laptop that I dont use much anymore that is only 8 months old. Possible list of system requirements you can let us know about?

im pretty sure "g.o.c." uses an EPIA board. I use a P4 board with an ATI chipset (MB870 motherboard). It runs a bit hot, requiring exhaust fan cooling and a hefty power supply (150W) but it is fast (well except for the slow laptop drive i've got in there). I do know that he recommends 512MB ram for his s/w. I can run without a swap file with 512MB, but if I run too much else, I need to enable virtual mem even with 512MB.

It will require a DirectX 7 compatible 3D card. We will initially be releasing it only bundled with hardware. I can't really disclose any more specifics yet, other then the initial hardware is going to be intel based. We have a complete product now and will be doing final testing this week. Assuming all goes well, we should have some kind of release then.

One would hope you are still going to sell the touch screen and housing seperately from the rest of the system.

God_of-CPU, great to hear what you are doing with the systems and I hope like caelric that you will offer both option - full Carputer with screens and stand alone Screen and housing.

Yes, the screens should be available as a seperate product. The only thing that were going to be required to be bundled at this point is the software with the computer hardware.
