how to get rid of watermark stains on the hood?
i recently washed my car a few days ago,and the next morning i noticed that i have watermarks on the edge of my hood when i come up close to it. Its a black coupe...
i try applying water and rubbing with a mf cloth, and it still there... anyone know what i can use to remove these stubborn waterspots w/o ruining my paint!
I waxed my car about 3-4 months ago, and im guessing these waterspots are under the layer of wax. I can be wrong tho.
I also heard that applying waxing to the area might help get rid of the waterspots also, is this true?

Hardwater stains.......ouch!
To be safe, I would take your car to a good detail
shop and let them do it! If the waterspots are really
bad it may have to be colorsanded....ya know baked
on. This happned to me last summer but I caught
it within half an hour......rushed home and stripped
the hood and then reapplied my wax......LOL

Did it rain that night?
Did you wash it any differently?
Unless you used a sealant like Zaino, there is no wax on there anymore.
PM me if you'd like...I detail on the side in the 5-boroughs, CT, and LI.

tossed salad anyone?
if the water mark is from "hard water" drying on the surface, a 50/50 water:vinegar mixture works like a charm. wet the car like you were gonna wash it, then wipe with the mixture on a sponge and leave for 10-15 seconds then wash off with water.

I had a bad water spotting problem on my whole car from sprinklers once, I tried washing, quick detailer, cleaner wax, maguires step 1 cleaner, nothing worked. I finally resorted to a claybar (4 long hours) and that got most of it off but some stuborn stuff was left, after that I used maguries scratch-X and that worked great. I say skip the preliminaries and go stright with scratch-X
I had a similar problem and the only thing that worked for me was to get a wet rag and let it sit on the water spots and dissolve the depossits. I didnt try the vinigar though.

so 50/50 on vinegar+bottled water will do the trick? Well what it was is that the waterspots on my hood have been on there for about a lil over a month or so, it was from these damn sprinklers that i came across one night when i drove home. My car has been garaged ever since that though. So will this solution work still?
Or should i try to clay that part? Not sure which would work better... The vinegar thing wont ruin my paint right?

Any abrasive polish will remove calcium deposits, since it's also abrading paint. I'd suggest a chemical cleaner for future use so you're not using an abrasive over and over to remove water spots.
..I'd try the white vinegar (50%) / water, or better yet Isoprophyl Alchohol (30%) and water before using any abravsive. Use demineralized water for either mixture. Give it some time (~5min) to neutralize the calcium but not too long and not out in the sun - be sure the surface is cool before you begin. Search Autopia.org for this solution.
After you see the deposits gone, wash, polish & then wax.
Good luck.
