Re: Dealer Paint Sealer is it worth it ?
Will it hurt to get it? Can someone explain what it is. When I was first negotiating for my car they said well we can only give you X price but we'll throw in like 6 visits every six months for factor pean sealant treatment. After we were done with the price (3 days later) I said, well can I have the sealant anyways since it really doesn't cost you anything and they agreed. Should I go back and have it applied or is it something not worth it?

Do it your self. You can either use a sealant(zano is the best) or you can wax it every month. I personally like wax because it gives me deeper shine on my black car. My roommate uses a sealant and it has more mirror type finish. All the matter is that you get a coat between your clear cloat and the enviroment.

I got it on my maroon '92 Sentra purely by chance. They had already applied it and then tried desperately to sell me on it, but I was just out of college and refused because I didn't have the $500 for it. Then they admitted it was already on there and made me feel bad so I agreed to give them $160 if they would ScotchGard the inside and rustproof the undercarriage and doors. Paint sealant was Ziebart, and included 4 annual reapplications at any Ziebart shop. I'll tell you what, that car absolutely glowed and never needed to be hand waxed. I had the car for four years (and got the update/reapplication each year) and it was always shiny and water beaded up and rolled right off. Heck, between the inherent shine and the water shedding properties, I only had to wash the car when it was really really dirty and we didn't get rain for a long time -- because when it rained good enough the dirt washed right off.
I haven't gotten it on any of my cars since, because they normally want at least $500 for it like the Sentra, but if you like your car to stay shiny with minimal effort, it's a good deal.

Don't get the paint sealant. Paint Sealants have come a long way since they were introduced to the PUBLIC. They are now easier to apply and the products available are just as good if not better than the dealership. Save the $150 or so bucks and do it yourself or $35 bucks and labor.
