which vacuum to get for cleaning interior?

I searched and read a couple of threads, but would like to get some more input. I noticed there were some serious variations in price, from 10 dollars all the way to 100+. Give me some feedback please! Brand, model, price, performance. Thanks!

Actually I don't have a garage where I'm living, so I would need something portable more than likely. Sorry I didn't mention it earlier

yup, get a 5 or 6hp shop vac and it'll literally suck anything that will fit in the hose. It's the best car vac you could get, anything else is weak in comparison. it's so versatile you'll use it around the house too.

oops you got your post in before me. Home depot has a small 4gal 5HP Rigid for around $70, it's pretty good, not as powerful as the big floor types but better then a regular vaccum.

A craftsman is only as good as his tools. Use this hard-working wet/dry vacuum for quick and easy cleanup in your workspace. The tool-box shaped design provides maximum portability and easy storage. The unit features a convenient fold-away handle for transport and a durable hinged lid that make the included attachments readily accessible. Its compact size will fit seamlessly into your garage, basement, workshop or wherever you need it most. THIS ITEM QUALIFIES FOR A $40 GIFT CARD VIA MAIL-IN REBATE (VALID THRU 06/28/06). SEE REBATE CENTER FOR DETAILS.

• 5 hp motor provides powerful suction for heavy-duty cleanup tasks
• 7 Ft. collapsible hose easily reaches areas that need cleaning then conveniently stores away in lid when not in use
• Handheld functionality for convenient mobility
• 3-stage filter supplies maximum filtration and keeps your environment free from dust and other particles
• Built-in storage accommodates 3 accessories for more versatile applications

I have one and love it. Everything fits in the compartments making the entire package a simple box to store. The power and suction is great, noise isn't overpowering, easy to find, under $100. It's a great all-around piece.

you won't regret getting a high power one.. just store it in the closet or something.. Trust me it's worth sucking up all those dirt.. It even sucks a towel out of your hand.

Thanks for the recommendation! Just bought myself one, and works great. I also use it as a blower to help dry off the car, like near the mirrors, door handles, trunk lid, and lugnut holes! It's also great how it's self contained and very easy to store/ move around. I couldn't be more satisfied w/ my purchase. Thanks again

im using a 3.5hp shop vacuum from Sears... it's the small 5gallon one,
but you'd probably want to get a smaller one with the smaller hose to
do your car.

mine's got that big hose and is clumsy as hell to use. what you want
to look for is a vac with a soft flexible hose. that will be your ticket.

are you serious? Which vacuum to get for cleaning the interior of your car? A vacuum is a vacuum basicly. No certain vacuum is going to clean your car better than the other. Its not like it takes 3.5 HP to pick up dirt off the carpet.....

Yes I was serious when asking the question...primarily trying to find a good PORTABLE vacuum which would only see car vacuuming duty. Thanks to g35stiles I found one.

Thanks Ken...I ended up picking up the ridgid all in one vacuum that was in the link above provided by g35stilez. It has a soft flexible six foot hose and is very convenient to use in the car, and I really like the box design so I can just store it away in the corner w/out hoses flapping around.

yah, that's wat i thought too before i got it. there is a HUGE difference
between a pos vac (especially those ones that plugs into the cig lighter
which are just a joke) and a real powerful vac.
