AAAGGHHHH!!!

Just cleaned/CGed my black sedan today. Looks like a golfball smacked it in the hood. BRAND NEW HOOD, TOO!!! AAAAGGHHH!!!!

*deep breath*

Anyone know how to minimize the appearance of this? Granted, it's like asking how to make a 300lb woman look "slim", but still-- anyone?

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

What do you mean? Did something actually dent your hood? Your post makes it sound like the CG had something to do with it.

As for minimizing the appearance of the flaw, about 12 years ago I used to place stickers over chipped and dented areas on my car, to hide the spot... and it added much needed HP to my Sentra as well. Unfortunately, that would be a little ricey today...

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

dude, sorry to hear that, try to get a dent repair person to try to pop the hood back out for you (or you can try it yourself)

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

Thanks-- yeah, it's a small dent that has nothing to do with CG. The CG just made me SEE it. Grr. It's somewhat of a dimple on the hood... right smack in the middle. My friend from India said it made my car look like it was Hindi.

I kicked him. This is not a laughing matter.

I'm calling my body shop tomorrow, as they tend to have good recommendations for PDR people. I've never seen a dent quite like this-- it really comes to a point at the apex of the curve; not smooth like most of them. Still, no paint lost.

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

blame it on the aluminum hood, even in the manual they tell you to always slam the hood shut, dont put ANY pressure on it
good luck man

hey geobau... if it makes you feel any better, i didn't notice the ding on your hood at the meet this weekend. lol but then again, i was admiring your tint more than your hood. tint... no tint... decisions, decisions...

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

Do what ramo said. Go to www.dentwizard.com and find a dealer next to you. They should be able to remove that dent caused by the golfball. I think it will cost ya $50-100.

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

Update: I was on the east side of town at about 1am last night, and I got stopped at a light. No one on the street except myself and the pickup next to me... which said "Dent Wizard" in white lettering on the side. I rolled down my window, got the driver's attention and said "Random question-- since no one's on the road, will you look at a dent in my hood?" he said yeah, so he got out and checked it out.

He said he'd do it for under $50 if I wanted. Done. I'm calling them tomorrow...

hahahahahaha that is just too funny bro,
fate.

good luck!
under $50 aint bad at all, just make sure you tell him to be careful because the hood is aluminum, so he may have to be more careful in popping it back out smoothly.

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

This was more of a dimple, which is not something that the folks at Ding King said they could fix... I emailed a rep a pic to see if it'd work and he said "probably not". Gotta give em credit for honesty...

Re: AAAGGHHHH!!!

I'm actually driving out to Nevada in a month, so I decided to not get it fixed til I get out there. A) I'll be working with body shops in my business out there, so this will be a good introduction to our partners , and B) if I acquire any new dings on the way out there (30 hour drive?), then I can get it all taken care of at once.
