Corroded Rims

Corroded Rims
Hey Guys,
So I think my rims are ruined and I need your advice. after cleaning the car I applied Black Magic to the tires in order to spiff them up. I am always very careful about making sure the tires are dry before applying and I always clean the excess. However something seems to have happened. I cleaned the car did the above and left the car in the garage for a week. Came back from out of town and now it seems as if there are permanent black streaks running down the rims. As if the Black Magic ate into the chrome finish. I have tried to ferociusly clean the marks but to no avail.
Is the chrome a paint? Do you think the tire shiner just ate into it? Anyone ever heard of such a thing?
Anyone know if any products that might help to clean this up?
I will post some pics as soon as I wash her again.
Thanks for the advice

Re: Corroded Rims
Ox,
Are you talking about the 18's on the coupe? They are painted and clearcoated.
I have had something similar happen on our Lexus truck...around the lugnuts there are permanent black residue, not sure from where, it looks to be part of the paint now.
My recommendation is to try some paint thinner, if that doesnt work....then the next step is to try some finishing compound (i use 3M's) Good thing the wheels are silver so you dont have to worry too much about swirl marks
Good luck
