Tiniting in LA
I need to get my new G35 Goupe diamond Graphite car tinted and I am undecided on the % I should use. I was thinking about limo tint for back windows and 20% for front windows. ANy suggestions. What about a mettalic tint since my car is Dimonad Graphite. Any good places in LA Area

Re: Tiniting in LA
I have a Laser Red G35 coupe and I had it tinted to 35% all over (Formula One brand). I wouldn't put anything darker than that coz I dont want the rear to be a lot darker than front and coz it's red (personal preference). Yours is different so you can actually go darker and it'll look nice! I think 35% front, limo back is better for your G35. 35% front will less likely to be pulled over than 20%, and if you dont mind the rear to be very dark at night, limo is the right one for you. Enjoy you G35! *note: make sure you dont put metalized film, it will affect your antenna. Just in case you're curious, tinting will cost between $175 - 220 w/ lifetime warranty....

I got 30% black Llumar Tint on my Diamond Graphite coupe... I wish I had gotten 20% (35% is the legal limit in Mass). I was worried I wouldnt be able to see out at night, but now I think I would have been fine. W/ 30% you cant see in at night, but you can kind of during the day. I guess it looks a little classier, but I'd feel more like a nightrider pimp if I got the 20%. I'd definately go darker if you have the light interior.
On a more positive note I paid 180, and the guy did an exceptional job. Go with the 20 all around.

I had mine done at a little shop on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Los Angeles. I can dig up the number and send it to you if you want (PM me). I went with the 35% metallic tint (keeps out more heat) all around. I would have gone darker but I have had a rough time with tint tickets in the past. It looks good but its not quite as dark as most Gs I have seen. With darker or lighter you can't really go wrong, but you can go wrong with the installer so get a reference for sure.

Re: Tiniting in LA
Man everyone really got their tint for an expensive price. I paind 130 at Sunshield. They are located on Van Nuys Blvd. the number is either 818908-TINT or 818-906-TINT. Ask for Hamid. Dont pay over 150 dollars. This tint company does all the tinting for all the dealerships on Van Nuys Blvd. If the number is wrong Sun Shield is located in the city of Sherman Oaks. Go there i promise you wont regret it.
PM me if you need anything else.

First you would need to consider the type of tint the shop carries and how long they've been doing it. Here are several companies you should consider, but do realize that price generally does reflect the quality of work and the quality of film they carry. Go with Madico Onyx Series, Formula One Premier / Ultimate Series, or Huper Optik Films......these films cost a little more, but will last a lifetime if installed correctly. They offer one of the best heat reduction film on the market. Hope this helps.

Sunshield in Van Nuys is good and has good prices.
But I wanted to use the Huper Optik tint on my car and Sunshield isn't a dealer for it; in fact, they claimed to not even know what it was!
I therefore went to Songs Tint Masters in L.A. (the authorized Huper Optic Dealer in LA). They did a perfect job on my car and I am very happy with the tint. The Huper Optic is about double the price though.

gsg is correct in stating that you really get what you pay for, but that doesn't mean that Van Nuys does a bad job..........perhaps our fellow G member had a hookup at the shop. Either way, most generally, the cheaper the tint job, the worst the job and/or the quality of tint. Many cheaper films on the market have red dye on the film, which causes the color to fade purple.
If anyone needs to have their cars tinted, I highly recommend Song's TintMasters. I've known Hanh........the owner for quite some time, and they've been in the industry for 16yrs. In addition, Huper Optik is VERY picky in allowing which shops get the rights to their film..............that in itself, shows the type of work they're able to do. They're also an authorized Madico dealer..........the best of tthe best

Will, I didn't mean to imply anything negative about Sunshield in Van Nuys.....I've used them in the past for my other cars and a lot of the car dealers use & recommend them. I just didn't use them this time because I wanted Huper Optic and they didn't carry it.
That is how I ended up finding Han at Songs Tint Masters; who as you said, does top notch work. As a matter of fact, he ended up putting a prototype almost clear Huper Optic film on my front door windows, which is clear enough to be legal in Calif; yet it cuts heat significantly. I couldn't be happier with the results..............

I'm glad Hanh or Jay hooked you up w/ Huper Optik on your G. Hope you're enjoying the excellent heat reduction...........I love Huper Optik film. I'm currently working on Madico's LuMisty film on my GC. I'll post pics when I get a chance to install.
Several months ago, Hanh told me that Huper Optik will be coming out w/ an 80% light transmission film and he will be the one testing out the prototype for Huper. I guess that's the one you have one your car. As for Hanh, he owes me dinner for all the Southern Cali customers I've brought him. Gotta give him a call one of these weekends.....hehe.
