No Hose? Who needs it! The power of QEW

So I went back to portland this weekend to work on my car, and on the way back up to Seattle, it started pouring rain. So 3 hours of rain later, I arrived back in my garage at my apartment with a filthy car and no hose. Normally I would be S.O.L. but after reading millions of posts on autopia about using QEW, Using this technique http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32078 I busted out my 2 2.5 gallon buckets w/ 2 gallons of water each, 2 sheepskin mits, and a army of MFs, I ended up with this:

So with 4 gallons of water, 3 oz's of QEW, and some MFs, I was able to wash my car in my garage without a single water spot or visible marring on the finish, all while it was raining outside. For those without access to a hose, this is a great product to try, its a little scary at first, but once you get the hang of it it goes very smoothly. Took about an hour because I was taking my time including the wheels and exhaust.

Looks great but that does seem scary. I'll try it on my truck first.

I use the Optimum equivalent - http://autogeek.net/optimum-no-rinse.html

I have been using this methodology for about 3 years now without problems.

Compared to local car washes, this is 10x safer. If the car is extremely dirty, go to a DIY place and pressure wash the grunt of it off, then come back (or do it there) and use warm water to wash your car.

Have you tried both? I heard the optimum no rinse leaves a slightly slicker surface, but I can find the QEW locally so thats why I use it. However, if its significantly better I may have to try it
